Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default An awesome read

I highly recommend picking up and reading Glen Beck's new book, "Being George Washington". I learned some new events not covered by previous books om that period as well as Glens's ability to to contrast right and wrong. Didn't know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. Pick it up if you're looking for another great read.

....om that period
Nothing less than a miracle that we are where we are today. The war should have been over in December 1776. Was Mrs. Loring secretly working for the patriot cause?

I knew what you meant, just did not correct.

No I have not read the book but I have studied the war. Looking at it objectively I do not blame the British for wanting repayment for expenses incurred fighting the Seven Years (French and Indian) War. From the British perspective they obviously did not go about collecting repayment the best way.

The book didn't cover that but I do remember some other reads, John Adams, that talked about the prior debt and it had to be honored. My memory is all that great on that because I bought McColough's book on September 10, 2001. I had read the first 100 pages of it before we were attacked that next day. All I can say was that it was an incredible coincidence of the time and for what that book had to say regarding our country in contrast to that day and today.

I would reccomend anyone who would like to know more about the person who behind the scenes did everything to bring this country together to read John Adams.

Would that be 1776? That book I did read and enjoyed very much. If that is the book you are referring to I do not understand the connection between 1776 and America of today.

I understand your recollections regarding memories of 9/11. I was working in NYC back then. The building I was in had an unobstructed view of the towers from midtown Manhattan. The second plane flew past us and I watched it hit the tower. Among other things it was a very surreal WTF is going on sort of day.

No, I saw the 1776 book after I read "John Adams". John Adams is the book that HBO turned into the mini series. I moved on from that era and into the 1800s. Being George Washington was the first visit back to the 1700s

You are very right when it comes to not being able to recognize America today if you compare to what it was founded on back then. Glenn does a very good job at contrasting that to today in the end of the book. It's astonishing the number of career politians we have which to me is a plus for Mit Romney.

I have seen parts of the John Adams mini series it looks very well done. Courageous of JA to defend the British in court. How did you like the book?

Loved the book. I learned so much about John Adams who I now have to say was the key person to broker our constitution today.
