Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default tax cut imbroglio

The Republicans have always maintained they are 'for' tax cuts. This is in the context of 'smaller government', less 'appropriation of private funds', etc. When the 'payroll tax cut' was pushed by the left, it was seen by right-thinking people as an escalation for the end of Social Security, since this tax is the only thing that FUNDS social security. When the ersatz tax-cut was proposed for extension (ostensibly to help the economy), it was expected to be opposed by republicans because it does NOT help any segment of the economy, and it actually HURTS social security. THe political aspect of it is to corner republicans so it can be claimed they are NOT really supportive of tax cuts, or else they would support this particular tax cut. Well, it looks like Boehner and the republicans are going to shove this whole issue where the 'sun don't shine'...

Cool

I hope the Republicans stick to their guns on this. The special interests that the Democrats represent are not looking out for our national benefit.

I don't know of a single demokrat supported special interest that has the national benefit in mind. Basically, the demokrat-controlled Senate will kill the bill and Obama will never be exposed to the public's witness of his veto. The president is a concubine to the eco/green lobby which is behind his refusal to allow the Keystone project to go forward, regardless of national benefit. I find the amerikan electorate to be sublimely ignorant of legislative process; they will blame 'congress' for this, and not the demokrats who are rightly to blame...why amerikans cannot get behind a 200,000 job work initiative is beyond me, unless it's because it's not a GOVERNMENT SPONSORED work program....
