Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

What burns me is the silence from the left in office and certain independents on this board. Gonzalez was ridiculed and fired for firing 6 AG's "badly". That was such a non issue back then and when asked why he needed to go, there was no meat to their answers. Now we have Eric Holder with blood on his hands and he gets a pass.

It's ironic that anarcho-punks with leftist sympathies say what many conservatives feel: BATF--Aus Rotten.

FM would have all the awful "liberals" and "independents" who sometimes come to this board to go wild over Operation Fast and Furious. Except for Issa and Grassley, very few Republican congressmen are talking about Operation Fast and Furious.
Yeah right. Another record that I need to correct for you falcon. First, you're not reading about the the number of republicans and what they are saying regarding fast and furious in the papers or on your main stream web sites because they are covering it. Duh! The are over 3 dozen republicans calling for Holder to step down last I checked and that was months ago.

Funny, you are the person I was posting about when it came to independents on this board. You were much more out spoken regarding Gonzalez then Holder. Your weRe also a very empty suit when it came to why he needed to go. Funny, the chow line did form behind Gonzalez's need to leave. Coincidence? I think not!

Regardless of what "intent" FM has, your above comment suggests that this issue is not important because "very few Republican congressmen" are talking about it. That would imply that the issue is only political and has no other important consequences. I'll refrain from making some silly accusation and ask if that's what you intend to portray as your opinion. Is it?

Its very unlikely that any political appointee will be held accountable for this one; thats just the way it is in DC. Strange that few in congress or elsewhere are talking about the hundreds of Mexican nationals killed by guns that the US gov't ran into Mexico.
These are all valid points and they SHOULD be talked about in great detail. People (regardless of party affiliation) should be held accountable for this fiasco. That means both the Obama and Bush administrations and any other administration that had anything to do with this idiotic program.

Project Gunrunner began in 2006. It morphed into a monster: Not unusual for US gov't operations. Guns were run into Mexico before the current regime came into office: Those guns had tracking devices.
Your points are well taken. However, what exactly did the ATF hope to accomplish with such an operation? Arrest and prosecute straw buyers? Track weapons delivery pipelines? Prosecute Mexican criminals who are already murdering Mexican citizens?

Did the ATF plan on extraditing Mexican criminals back to the US for committing crimes on Mexican soil? Were they planning on turning over this evidence to Mexican authorities so Mexico could prosecute these criminals? I think the US would be livid (and rightfully so) if Mexico or another country allowed illegally purchased guns to be trafficked into our country like illicit drugs and then used to murder our citizens. Exactly how much did they expect to gain in comparison to how many lives were they willing to risk? It doesn't seem like a wise idea at all.

Operation Fast and Furious was dreamed up by career bureaucrats in the Phoenix BATFE office. It had the approval of the local federal prosecutor. It was sold all the way up the BATFE food chain. F&F eventually involved the FBI, the DEA, the BATFE and, most likely, the State Dep't.
See above points. Your points here just serve to illustrate that there are many people in the federal agencies who are not doing their oversight job properly.

Every person on this board should read and study the congressional staff report on Operation Fast and Furious. This is an example of what your gov't is capable of:

http://oversight.house.gov/images/st...ATF_Report.pdf

The BATFE on Project Gunrunner:

http://www.atf.gov/firearms/programs/project-gunrunner/
I agree that every person on this board should read and study this information and all other information on Fast and Furious. I would change "your government" to "our government" however as it is a government that each of us is not only stuck with but also responsible for. Yes, we didn't choose a lot of the career bureaucrats or a particular President sometimes but we still have an obligation and responsibility to hold all of them accountable since they are supposed to be working for all of us.
