Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Ohio Speaks....

Governor Kasich is humbled as the referendum vote on collective bargaining rights for public unions is decisively pro-union, pro-collective bargaining, pro-public sector unions.

Head of the AFL-CIO crowed "....this is just the beginning...."

I put it to the board....considering the demographics of Akron, Dayton, Cincinnatti, Cleveland, Colombus, Toledo....it's no small wonder the people of Ohio have elected for self-destruction and fiscal collapse. It's a sad day for the country when the greatest benefactors of a capitalist economy freely choose to shackle themselves to the bonds of socialism. On a more positive note, there can be 2 definitive results of this:
1: bankruptcy of the state resulting in the layoff of those very same public service union members who will happily take their places on the rolls of the government assistance programs.
2: the state can opt to break it's contracts, fire all union employees and for it's very survival, begin the employment of non-union public-sector employees.
Personally, I'm thinking #1 will be the way Ohio will go...and I'm ok with it.

On a lighter note, the people of Mississippi defeated the ban on abortion which was also up for a vote. That's not a surprise...IMO that law, had it passed, would have been struck down by SCOTUS if it even got that far.

I agree with your assessment. Before your option #1 happens though, and be warned travelers, you won't be able to drive on I75 or I71 in Ohio without receiving some sort traffic ticket. It's already pretty bad. As we run out of money it will get worse. All the cops do is hang out and give tickets. God knows they don't stop crime...not in Cincinnati anyway.

Not to worry though, we're going to build a new public transport system that we have no way of paying for too.

well the first thing you'll get is excessive and selective enforcement of any and all infractions involving fines. You will then see taxes rise. Those with money, or a sense of 'quality of life' will leave the state...but not before the exodus of big business which will seek to shelter itself from the tax burden that will need to be levied on the remaining citizens. THe upshot will be that the state will lose net jobs....as the tax base erodes (escapes !), the taxes will rise to make up the difference. The idiots who are too stupid to leave the state will blame the state of affairs on Gov.Kasich. THe stupidity and scumbaggery does not stop at the voting booth. I live in New Jersey....I know of what I speak.

Sadly, I believe revenue generation has become 90+% of police function. You'll be the subject of profiling if you happen to be white, driving a nice car, and look like you can afford to pay a hefty fine...

So the idea here, is to STAY OUT OF OHIO. Don't do business there, do not visit and for God's sake do not move there ! The state is caught up in a morass of socialist parasitism and thuggery and is circling the drain. Let it flush before you stick your arm in there....

Down in the Cincinnati area we border KY and IN. Since the cops do nothing but hand out tickets, and the county strong arms cities and townships to allow housing vouchers, most folks with any sense have moved to KY or IN. So thousands and thousands of people work in the city and then take their money and spend it in a different state.

Cincinnati is such a cluster cuck that it's comical. We built new football and baseball stadiums a few years back. Conservatives wanted to build north of the city, inland from the Ohio river and KY border. There was a very nice spot with lots of real estate potential. Instead voters, those who live in the city, not those who work in the city, decided that the stadiums should be on the river front. Now, just as conservatives predicted, people park over in KY for the games (they normally arrive early and frequent restaurants, shops, and or bars), walk across the bridge to watch the game, and then go back to KY to spend more money on the nightlife. So essentially, Ohio gets a few bucks for game tickets and a bit from the $8 beers, but KY benefits much more from these stadiums.

Well, the referendum failed, but we could always fall back on 1923-Munich-style street battles. Jk...

Agree 100%. The dumb masses prevail. Insanity reigns supreme.

The northeast as a whole is a big crap wagon as far as I'm concerned. A couple years ago, some Russian sociologist or something predicted the breakup of the USA into regions where the northeast will separate into it's own lefty euro-trash crapbag....among other things....the target for this was somewhere in the area of June 2010...he's late....but for the record, I'd throw my hat in with the Texas Republic....
