Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Should Joe Paterno spend the rest of his life in prison?

Joe Paterno was made aware of one of his coaches raping a young boy in the shower nearly a decade ago. Joe told his bosses but did not pursue past that point. Does the fact that he did not go to the police (when his bosses did nothing) constitute a felony on Joe Paternos part?

I think probably the most appropriate thing to do would be to remove him as head coach, and probably also vacate any wins attributed to him as a coach beginnng after he learned of the incident.

Well, you have the police commissioner quoted as saying joe full filled his legal requirement in the matter. So how do you throw him in jail for life?

The kids/adults should get 50 million a piece now from the state of PA.

If he passed it up the line.... I say he did what was expected. I worked for a large corporation back in the day and was a manager. Had I run full tilt to the authorities with every thing that I thought I saw that was wrong i would have been fired in an instant. Chain of command is the answer. He did his job by passing that info along.

Cool

Why in the world should Paterno get hung with this? A grad student came to him and related something the student said he had witnessed. Paterno relayed what he had been told to his boss. There is nothing more he could have done. He didn't see anything. All he had was a secondhand account of something.

People are acting as though Paterno committed a worse offense than the pervert committed.

Yes, he and the whole staff and everyone else in a position of management at the school should go to jail and be raped the rest of their lives by a 350 lb. bubba. It still wouldn't be enough for what they did to those kids.

might as well make him a felon and sex offender, everyone else is by this point.

He told his superiors it sounds like, but honestly if you saw that with a random person and nothing happened, wouldn't you pursue it further/goto the police?

After thinking about it, the pay off needs to be raised to 100 million each from the State of PA.

+1

Paterno did what he was supposed to do. It's not his fault that the college administration chose to ignore the matter. The college administration is the bad guy in this case. Given a chance to come clean, two administrators lied to the grand jury. They will pay for their failure to report the crimes and for lying to the grand jury.

BTW: College administrators often refuse to report crimes that occur on campus. The best place to get away with a violent crime in the US is a college campus.

I just caught a clip from cbs news and Paterno is real old. He looks like he is ready to kick off! I bet there are a few who want to see him go just because he is ancient.
