Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default The "House" releases it's 2012 work schedule

And I don't think the pay schedule really reflects all the hard work, time and effort they put into serving our country. I think they deserve a raise, over $1600 a day should be a insult to them IMO. They come in early, stay late, all those murderous hours around the bargaining table, their families never get to see them. Not to mention all the tours overseas, hammering out our differences with other countries, the danger alone would make an average citizen shrink. It's hard work achieving an 9% approval rating.

Don't care. As long as we allow them to draw the kind of pay that appears objectionable to the rest, and as long as we allow them to soak up the kinds of job 'perks' they get, then more power to 'em. I figure Boehner's worth the dough...I'd like to see YOU sit in the House of Representatives and not crack Schumer's skull with a golf club, or throw Nancy Wicked Witch of the West Pelosi from the Capital rotunda....the money's worth it.

They don't feel that strongly towards each other, it's just a hobby for them.

And I think that's it in a nutshell ! If Bush and Teddy Kennedy can be buddies, I must conclude they do not take it personally, like a normal human being would....

I find it interesting how you feel the need to repost this garbage and give the Democrat Comtroled Senate a pass. What's worst? Going to the job and not doing anything or showing up less days and actually getting things done?

FYI, it's been over 2 years since the Senate passed a constitutionally mandated budget. They have yet to take up any of the 15 bills passed out of the house and into the Senate.

You say you found it interesting that I "reposted' the '12 House schedule. I have never posted the schedule prior to this post, because, well, it just came out. And yes, I have a problem with our representatives working 108 days out of the year, with the major domestic problems we face, AND our military working 365 days a year. Your post actually reminds me that yes, Congress does have at least 9% that approves of their job. Do you approve of where our country is at domestically?

bottom line, I see you as an "independent". So it's not to surprising that you posted this.

Want to fix congress? Go back to 1 representaive per 40k people. After all, the house is there to represent the people and 800k people per rep, can't possibly represent theirconstituate's needs. The second thing that needs to be done is to repeal the 17 th amendment. Senators are in Washington to represent the needs of the State. Today, they feel they are there to represent the people. Madison warned about the system we now have in the federalist papers if both parts of the legislative branch were selected through the same measures. when was the last time you heard a senator from your state say they represent the state? When was the last time you heard your senator meeting with your state legislators and reporting how they feel about this overbearing federal government.

Educate yourself beyond the media. Go back in time and learn what our founding fathers wanted for us.

Most of the time. That said, when people talk about what our Founding fathers wanted or thought, yes in principle great. The problem lies with the Founding Fathers never heard of Iraq, Internet, let alone Hawaii or Alaska. They never heard of NAFTA or Wyoming. Wall Street used to be just a street in New york, I don't even think it was paved. We have to deal with todays problems with todays solutions. The reality is, there wasn't 300 million Americans when they developed their principles and concepts. I don't think retaking 6th grade is a today solution.

Oh, so let me get this straight. Transportation was something new and invented in the 1990s. Communication as well. Having actual countries, I'm not so sure that was new. I'm certain trade has gone back thousands of years since the beginning of time. So please enlighten me which one the founding fathers didn't understand.

I've taken some thought on your position here. I think I can do nothing but agree with you. There needs to be balance between 'The People' and 'The State'...and right now, NOBODY is representing 'the state' because they're more concerned with popular elections and if a state's best interests are served by something unpopular, then, the state is no longer represented. But I still think reverting to 1/40,000 in the HOUSE would make the House of Representatives so ponderous that it could get nothing done, ever ! 435 members vs 7500 ? I agree that 'The People' are under-represented so maybe the ranks of the house reps can be increased.....doubled or tripled and still retain some functionality...but with 7500 members where will the House come to order ? Nationals Park ?
