Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default welfare?

This was written by a 21 yr old female who gets it. It's her future she’s worried about and this is how she feels about the social welfare big government state that she’s being forced to live in! These solutions are just common sense in her opinion.
This was in the Waco Tribune Herald, Waco , TX Nov 18, 2010

Put me in charge . . .

Put me in charge of food stamps. I'd get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I'd do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we'll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and document all tattoos and piercings. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get tats and piercings, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks?
You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your "home" will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a "government" job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the “common good..”

Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules.. Before you say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin their "self esteem," consider that it wasn't that long ago that taking someone else's money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people's mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

AND While you are on Gov’t subsistence, you no longer can VOTE! Yes that is correct. For you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Gov’t welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job.

I like it....it's scary with lashings of 'big brother is watching'....but lifestyle is what it's all about, and a culture of dependence. Remove the allure and the problem goes away.

It eats me up when I see people use their lone star card to get ding dongs and ho hos, then walk out and jump in sports car or other expensive vehicle. OR better yet, when you see them in Wal Mart, with two baskets. One full of beer and the other full of chips and junk food. They pay for the junk food with the Lone Star card, then get cash off the card and pay for their beer with the cash.

I love it--but it will never happen--especially loosing their vote--dems would never allow it.

same all over
see it all the time,
people buying carts full of groceries on their benefit card, then loading it into a $50k SUV , wearing designer labels,

why?
look who controls the flow of $$$,
feds pay 1/2, city/state split the other half,
for every $250 mil city pays their are getting additional $750 mil pumped into their economy,

and for feds 1/2? look who controls that half, reps wanting to send money back to their districts,

I dont blame the people receiving the funds,
thats like blaming the stores for selling the stuff,
and clerks who work the stores for selling it,

I blame the politicians who benefit and maintain the same corrupt system

Rice, beans, cheese, milk.

none of that's food, stupid 21yo... no surprise there.

why not just mandate the death penalty if you're on welfare?
oh wait, rich republicans need a poor workforce, like indentured servants...
ie work until you die cause you can't afford to retire.
don't get sick, and if you do get sick, die quickly/cheaply.

A better solution...
Offer every able bodied person with a hs education a job earning $40k/year.

When the best job in town for someone with a hs education is mcdonalds or walmart at minimum wage, and you wonder why crime exists...

seriously why do we have social sercurity at all?
it should be you're on your own...
work your entire life, retire if/when you ever can,

,
That's not food? Maybe not on your home planet, but, for your information, on this planet, that is food.

Not only is that food, but so are homemade hamburgers.

I work at a gas station, and we accept WI Quest Cards (debit card for food stamps basically). I can't refuse to service someone cause I'd probably lose my job, but I realized how much of a joke the program is when I saw somebody filling up a nice fishing boat with all the crap loaded on it + their GMC Yukon full with gas... added up to dang near $200. They paid in cash. Then went around grabbed chips, soda, candy for their fishing trip. $40 dollars of it, all paid for by the taxpayers.

Are you on a non-dairy and non-Mexican food diet? It's food although perhaps not to your particular liking.

Interesting. This 21 YO's proposal is to make welfare more like subsistence living without so much luxury and you equate it to a death penalty.

A better solution...
Offer every able bodied person with a hs education a job earning $40k/year.
Doing what? The median household income is around $50K while the per capita income is around $27K.

If this were factually accurate, one might expect a substantial % of Walmart and McDonald's employees to be committing crimes but that isn't the case. I understand the point you're trying to make but it could be expressed better and also could use some documentation.

seriously why do we have social sercurity at all?
it should be you're on your own...

If you're being serious, this statement conflicts with the rest of your post. If you're being sarcastic or facetious, your sarcasm is advocating extreme positions at opposite ends without considering some middle ground which would be more sustainable.
