Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default The Welfare Rhyme

Just received this poem in an e-mail. Don' t know who wrote it, but thought of William Tibbe when I read it!

Subject: Fwd: Welfare System

I cross ocean, poor and broke,
Take bus, see employment folk.

Nice man treat me good in there,
Say I need to see welfare.

Welfare say, " You come no more,
We send cash right to your door."

Welfare checks, they make me wealthy,
Medicaid, it keep me healthy!

By and by, I got plenty money,
Thanks to you, American dummy.

Write to friends in motherland,
Tell them ' come fast as you can.'

They come in turbans and Ford trucks,
buy big house with welfare bucks.

They come here, we live together,
More welfare checks, it get better!

Fourteen families, they moving in,
But neighbor' s patience, wearing thin!

Finally, white guy move away,
I buy his house, and then I say,

" Find more illegals, house to rent."
And in the yard, I put a tent.

Send for family, they just trash,
But they, too, draw welfare cash!

Everything here, it very good,
And soon we own the neighborhood.

We have hobby --it' s called breeding,
Welfare pay for baby feeding.

Kids need dentist? Wife need pills?
We get free! We got no bills!

American crazy! He pay all year,
Just to keep welfare running here.

We think America darn good place!
Too darn good for the whiteman race.

If they no like us, they can scram, Got lots of room in
Pakistan.

SEND THIS TO EVERY AMERICAN TAXPAYER YOU KNOW

Sad thing is, though, most of the people I' ve encountered who came here from another country actually work their butts off to support themselves. They truly appreciate the opportunities here. It' s the ungrateful home-growns who don' t how lucky they are that' s the problem.[>:]

That was originally slightly different (and more pertinent) when it was about illegals from Mexico.

Normally I' m pretty thick skinned, but I find that poem pretty darn offensive.
Its could have been written 100, 150, or 200 years ago and would have fit the mentality of those opposing the ' dirty' Poles, Irish, and Germans who immigrated to this country and built it to its current greatness.

The people who enter this country legally have usually been through alot just to get here and more often than not work their tails off harder than than the natural born citizens here just to make it. The illegals who cross the border can be a completely different story though. I don' t know first hand about how the illegals live in places like California or Texas, but I' ve heard alot of stories. Around here, the Mexican immigrants tend to do the jobs than noone else would do- pick produce, work in rendering plants or tanneries, landscaping, house paintintg, or work in other low to moderate paying unskilled jobs.

Only the last generation from the pre and post WWI era. If this wasn' t the case, why are they now reinstating food stamps and welfare for " new immigrants" .

You wanna see some welfare cases? Look at the Hmong in Wausau and Sheboygan, look at the Mex' s in S. Milwaukee...

the welfare roles are swollen to capacity. The days of earning a living are over.

Ahh, the good old days of only being able to afford Ketchup sandwiches and wearing torn pants -- nowadays you' d be arrested for child endangerment.

I guess you got a good point.

Up here in whitebread suburbia, if you want some drywalling done or a lawn put in, they send a whole crew of Mexicans up to do it, so at least a portion of them are putting forth a good effort.

But at least in this state, we have the rest of them surrounded and vastly outnumbered.

hntngirl, you have a point! It' s not generally the LEGAL immigrants that cause problems; nor is it all of the illegals, either.

I will be simple because for what I have witnessed I coul do on forever. Take a look at the GAU system and you will find alot of this poem going on in attitude and reality wether we like it or not. Even from what we see today by Assylum and Refugee status within the system. This GAU comes from not Welfare but general income sources. I personally don' t like the poem but because of the immigration red tape I went thru for my wife and the community of immigrants I am involved there is truth in every tale just a matter of how much.

First off the poem isn' t very accurate because of the last line. Change that last line to " If they no like us, they can go, Got lots of room in Mexico. " and I' d say it' s very accurate.

Briman, our town is over run with illegal Mexicans and I do mean over run. I would say the majority of them are very hard workers and they bust their butts doing the exact type of jobs you mentioned in your post. However, there is a very large percentage of them who have figured out how to work the system. I have also noticed that, using the system seems to be a very common trait among the 2nd generations. I have worked along side many of these illegals and most of them do work hard.....harder than a white boy will. However, even as illegals, gov. freebies and handouts are shoved in their face from the time they get here. It doesn' t take long for some people to figure out how to work the system. Think about it for a minute......in your home country there is no jobs, no money and little food. In this new country there are plenty of jobs, lots of money, and tons of food. However, you can come to this new country and do nothing and still live 1,000 times better than you ever would in your home country and it' s all free to you! Welcome to the new America.
