Here's a link to a copy of the ad on Fox News. Fox (in their stupidity) refers to the ad in their title as being "Bizarre." Apparently Fox news is upset that Cain's campaign manager is smoking a cigarette in the ad. Brit Hume, in the few lines of this story, says the add is "a metaphor for the Cain campaign in that 'you can never quite figure out what the guy is up to.” I saw another website (Yahoo I think) this morning who were also disparaging the ad.
I get it about smoking a cigarette and agree that's a little weird/off-putting/probably not advisable BUT am kind of amazed that they ignore the rest of the ad and just dismiss it.
I've watched the ad twice now and aside from it being a little different, I thought it was a positive upbeat ad in which they were trying to generate some excitement and support for their candidate--Herman Cain. Now I'm just a cop and have never taken a course in advertising BUT shouldn't 2 major media outlets be able to recognize a decent ad when they see it and not bag on it? Or are they just trying to prove their stupidity twice and show the ad, thus giving it far more exposure than it ever would have gained from just the internet?
