Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default VP Bite Me tells another lie

Not that I needed another study to prove this since I've been posting real data derived from actual tax returns. However, here is another independent study showing the poor and middle class are much better off than decades ago.

Sorry HD and Sal, your claims fall very flat.

FM, if Biteme told the truth he'd instantly bust into flames. It would be akin to the Devil going to church.

Hope Phil reads this too...although I doubt any of them will own up to the facts.

We were 'middle class' growing up. Mom worked. Dad worked. No cable...we had it for awhile, but it was too expensive so we dropped it. There were no vacations...'time off' was spent at 'Coney Island' and "Brighton Beaches" which were a 35-cent train ride away. Dad did not have a car...he worked for "a Major Bank" and while his salary was considered 'decent' for the time, there were precious few luxuries. No a/c for one...window fans were what we had. Heat in the winter was administered 'frugally'. To 'play', we 'went outside' and played sidewalk games with the other kids on the block. A 'kid with money' had a transistor radio and could eat out at the pizzeria instead of going home for lunch (no school lunches yet...that freebie was not there yet). Birthdays...for us....we go to the local toy store and we're allocated $10. Mom would say "Go for it, kid". Christmas was as good as they could afford, but we never lacked for things to unwrap under the tree.

Now, not to compare the technologies of the two times (60's and 70's with the 2000's and 2010's), but the COST of day to day 'fun' has changed....

today, kids all have cell phones (actually, mini-computers called 'smart phones'). There are electronic games for kids to spend time on, the consoles of which are in the multiples of hundreds of dollars, not to mention the games themselves which go for 20-40-60 bucks. The kids just can't do without laptops costing upwards of $1000 with the accompanying 'service provider' fees...nobody wants to use dialup anymore. Even the poorest inner-city kids can claim to possess a cell phone, or some sort of designer clothing or sneakers.

THe purpose of this 'exercise' is to illustrate HOW MUCH MORE material posessions are required by people to consider themselves middle class ! We made do with NOTHING. How can ANYONE, middle class or poor, even SUGGEST they're doing worse nowadays ? The poor do better than ANY of the middle class kids I grew up with...

None will. In defense of 'whomever' will defend BiteMe's statements, I do not remember, as a child, people losing their jobs and defaulting on mortgage loans en masse. That just did not happen. Instead, what I DO remember, is people eating a lot of pasta fagioli to make up for the rising gas prices as a result of the Carter admin's regulations...there was a large recession during 'that other idiot's' administration, but I did not see many blue collar guys affected. I'm wondering if it's possible that the 20% unemployment figures are what's driving the libs to claim they're not doing as well today as 30 years ago. To that claim, I will say:
"what happened to your test-tube-baby hope-for-dopes obama, who was gonna fix everything...gild the lily...make a silk purse out of a sow's ear....2 chickens in every pot....and a government hand in every pocket" ? He was the Messiah-for-Idiots who has been as ineffective as an E.D. patient in a New Orleans brothel. I believe VP BiteMe was hired on for comedic relief because he's the dumbest schmuck I think I've ever seen on TV besides 'the situation' from Jersey shore.

Bergall,

I grew up in the 50s and 60s. Your description of growing up then is accurate. Recreation was "go out and play". Even if they existed at the time, I cannot see me asking my father for the equivalant amount of money to by electronic toys. I do not understand why every kid over 8 has to have a cell phone. I do not understand why a phone has to do more than make calls and get calls for an adult much less a kid.

I am glad that I no longer have young children. It saves me from repeating, "Everyone does not have it, you don't".

heheheh....my mother used to say "If everybody was jumping off the Brooklyn Bridge, would you jump too ?"....heheheheh THen there's the famous "Mom gimme a quarter for the Ice cream man!"...i'd get "You think I go out back and shake the tree when I want money ?"....cripes they had an answer for everything. That's why folks in 'our generation' have a good work ethic..you got crap if you could not get it yourself ! Nowadays, the 'cost of children' is WAY WAY beyond food, clothes and school ! And that's just their 'toys' ! The morality they hold is the polar opposite of what we were raised with. A 'slut' used to be a pejorative term, not a 'quality' ! A 'dog' used to be a lowlife ... now he's a hero to the stupid. Thanks to Bill Clinton, 'certain activities' are not considered sexual behavior by kids. But I digress..... the fact is, in short, even the POOR are doing 1000% better than we as middle-class kids did ! And they complain about it. I find it very easy to disregard their whinings as the complaints of spoiled 'entitled' people who do not, for the most part, know discomfort.

Well, it's more basic than that. Remember Gerald Ford ? The libscum constantly and incessantly lampooned his 'natural tendency towards uncoordination'. Basically, they portrayed him as a buffoon. NOW...you have Joe Biden, who is the greatest source of comedic buffoonery since Jerry Howard, and we hear nary a peep ! It seems our cancerous socialist cadre of media types don't see the utility of lampooning a rich source of entertainment...which demonstrates that it's not all about money, suggesting a more sinister agenda.

I wish I were as eloquent in speech as you are bro; if I could have said that way I would have, excellent and so true. The Liberalturds in the media turn a blind eye to the natives they’ve put in charge. Ever wonder what kind of favors they are getting back? There has to be some backroom deals being made somewhere, no one can be that obvlious to the truth!
