Why do people get paid for working overtime, working on weekends, working on holidays, etc.? Why do people get travel pay, comp pay for food, lodging, etc. when away from home?
My bet is you know zilch about military service.

Not enough of either one. Have you ever heard of the saying..... With great risk comes great reward????? Too bad this does not apply to the armed forces. They risk all, mostly for the love of their country.

I received a whopping $200/month in "Imminent Danger Pay" back in 2003/4, plus another $60/month "Separation Pay" for missing all those family events you probably take for granted.
Interesting, my Servicemembers' life insurance was increased to $400,000 while I was there too. Still short of what the lowest-compensated 9/11 victims' families were granted. Of course, there was a small difference - I had to pay a small portion for my insurance, while victims paid in - what's your guess? That's right, nothing.

Well, he's just riding the fat-wagon wherever he goes...his wife goes on vaycay on our dime, he goes on campaign tours masquerading as normal presidential business...that pos has not gone into his pocket for ANYTHING since 2008 and you talk about DISCOUNTS ? I made an extra 50 whole freaking dollars a month for combat pay in Viet Nam heck I was only making 350.00 a month as a buck sergeant to start with. With missions in Laos and Cambodia with the understanding that if I were killed that country my government didn’t know who I was… YOU TELL ME THAT IS TOO MUCH. OH, don't get me started!!!!! This one I'll fight till the cows go dry!
