I'm very proud of my military service, with two tours in Viet Nam. I served with the best!

I was going to join the Air Force, but found out that I have a medical condition (I was borderline diabetic back then) that prevented me from joining the military. Well, the military did not want to invest in me for good reasons.

Being diabetic now, I can understand their stance in not wanting to recruit me. The military can really do some good things for some people. I've seen many people that needed structure and discipline to make something of themselves. They joined up, and are better off for it.

Many in my family have served time in the service, both now, and in the past. It's an honorable profession.

I served in the U.S. Army. Lost an uncle in the Navy to a cowardly kamakazie attack on his ship--the war was all but over. Another uncle nearly died in Army night manuvers training when his skull was crushed from an overturned jeep. And another survived two German "death marches" as a P.O.W.

My 16 year old son was wanting me to sign a commitment form already, but I won't. He'll have to wait until he is old enough to make his own choices there.

Good choice Chad, I knew from the day I was old enough to walk that I was going to join, my parents encouraged it and even though I made it through Ranger school (My dream) I wish I would have waited a few more years, that I think would have helped me deal with the issues associated with combat. Took me over 15 years to have a some what of a normal life after the two tours in combat.
