Alabama Immigration Law Upheld

A federal judge has ruled that much of the stringent Alabama immigration law does not violate federal law. The Obama bunch are unhappy and will appeal.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — A federal judge refused Wednesday to block key parts of a closely watched Alabama law that is considered the strictest state effort to clamp down on illegal immigration, including a measure that requires immigration status checks of public school students.

U.S. District Judge Sharon Blackburn, appointed by Republican President George H.W. Bush, wrote in her 115-page opinion that some parts of the law are in conflict with federal statutes, but others aren't.

She said federal law doesn't prohibit checking students or suspects pulled over by police. She also refused to stop provisions that allow police to hold suspected illegal immigrants without bond; bar state courts from enforcing contracts involving illegal immigrants; make it a felony for an illegal immigrant to do business with the state; and make it a misdemeanor for an illegal resident not to have immigration papers.

Yes. Throw 'em out. I understand it's not their fault. But we should not have to pay for them either. Remove the magnet, as herman cain says....check papers....charge them as illegals....fine employers who hire illegals for first offenses...2nd offenses are higher fines or license revokation (don't allow them to operate their business legally if they are caught repeatedly). There's ways to cut down on illegal immigration...none of it sounds pretty....and there's nothing there that a bleeding heart liberal can't make hay out of. But it's got to be done. I would say first thing is to secure the border then once that's done, figure out what you wanna do with what we got. I applaud Alabama and the judge who supported the law.

this whole country is made up of immigrants, lets not fool ourselves. white man didnt evolve here, the red skins did. if the indians had a clue, they woulda charged chris for showing up on the beach, fined his azz and sent him packing back to the queen. there were mexicans in the south before the white man.... anyway, just saying i tried thinkin from the other side fer arguments sake.

No our population is not made up of immigrants. It is made up of the descendants of immigrants. My husband's ancestors were recruited from Europe to work in the factories because there were more jobs than people to work them. My ancestors were recruited from ***an to work the farms in Hawaii because there was more need for workers than people to work those jobs.

Those conditions no longer exist. We now have more people than jobs and we don't need any more people to settle here for any reason.

Ok....I cannot allow this degree of ignorance and stupidity to go unchallenged:

1: the immigrants who came to build this country came here
LEGALLY and in accordance with the laws of this land. My
family came thru Ellis Island in the 1920's...some did not pass
muster and were sent back to Sicily. The rest were allowed to
stay BECAUSE THEY COMPLIED WITH THE LAW AND WERE IN
ACCORDANCE WITH ALL REQUIREMENTS AND PRE-REQUISITES.
Only an abject moron will equate the millions upon millions of
people who legally emigrated here, got their citizenship, and
learned to speak English and BE Americans, with the garbage
floating across the border willy-nilly and in contravention of all
known laws and requirements.

2: The Indians welcomed white men ? Maybe at first...but soon
after, it was a fight from sea to shining sea. And another thing,
Einstein, there were no Mexicans in Columbus' day. The people
we know as "MEXICANS" come from a country named MEXICO
and are a mix of Spanish, black, and indian peoples. When
COLUMBUS arrived in the Caribbean, he was beset by
Arawaks and Caribs, the latter of which were cannibals. And
In what would become Mexico, there were major civilizations
living in large cities....Aztec....Maya....Inca....all great empires
in their own lands. No mexicans there, cheef. Not a one.

3: Try reading a book. NO HUMAN BEINGS EVOLVED IN THE
WESTERN HEMISPHERE OF PLANET EARTH. NOBODY !!!! THe
people who inhabited the "New World" when Colombus arrived
were pure and direct descendants of an estimated 1500-3000
people of Mongolian origin who walked across a land bridge
between alaska and russia during the last Ice Age. That small
number swelled to an approximate 250,000+ total population
AND NOT ONE OF 'EM DROPPED OUT OF A TREE ON THIS SIDE
OF THE WORLD AND STARTED WALKIN' AROUND. So EVEN
THE INDIANS are immigrants.

Next time you try thinkin' from the other side, get a clue. GAWD that's embarrassin !

Not intending to defend them but there are tons of them that do pay taxes and never get a return. I'm glad someone is trying to enforce the law, maybe more will follow, but if it's up to the Liberals they will be here for a long long time.

wow.....tough crowd....if ya wanna go back...then some africans own all the land, and it is shared by the family to use as they please. seeing as how we all are related, that would make paco a long lost cousin or whatever. so why dont you tell your long lost cousin he is doin it wrong and this could all be settled. ga lee

Exactly. A lot of these immigrants actually do pay taxes and actually do work that no one else here will do. Go build a house and see how expensive it is if you have to pay a decent wage. We have bigger problems. This is a red herring.

i know plenty people will do what ever to support their families. there isnt a job out there one race would do that another wouldnt do imo
