This may have been discussed before and if it has sorry but I didn' t see it.
I have been wondering about this latley and it' s just been bugging me. With the 2nd ammendment being part of a federal document, how is it that states and cities like California, New Jersey, Washington D.C. etc... can impose their own gun laws that restrict the ownership and use of fire arms within those states and cities? The United States Government, not local government, guarantees us the right to keep and bear arms. With these states being part of this country shouldn' t they have to obey the constitution of the United States? No where does it say that we can keep only certain arms in certain parts of the country. No where does it say that local governments shall have control of this right. No where does it make any distinction between the way that guns look. They all do the same thing regardless of how they look.
The right to keep and bear arms. Meaning all arms!! Not the arms that Joe Dumb A** thinks we should or shouldn' t have. How do you guys see this. To me this is clearly unconstitutional. Whats the point of having a bill of rights if the states can disregard them and do what they want to any way?

Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."

Excellent question Bigs, I don' t see many states that limits ones right to free speech or freedom of the press, I mean there is no law saying that we can' t read certain news papers or print certain articles just because we live in DC or some other anti-gun run city, town or state, Whats the difference between our first and second amendment that makes them think they have the right to treat it in such a manner?

The thing I notice when something is being challenged in the Constitution or Bill of Rights or Ten Commandments why does it always seem to be coming from special interest states like California or Washington. The back bone of the United States doesn' t seem to make issues with what our fore fathers thought this land should be like. How much thought do you think George Washington put into suing a fast food resturant becasue he was over weight. It all comes down to the all mighty dollar, if you have the money to oppose something most politicans will be on your side.

I do not think, however, that many of our fore fathers were overly religious though. T. Jefferson, for example, rewrote the New Testament, taking out all of the references to miracles
I don' t know too many people who aren' t overly religious that would take the time to rewrite the new testement
From what I have learned, all of our " fore fathers" were christian men. I' m not sure how you can guage how christian " cristian" is though

basically all it takes is a bunch of liberals in control of the said state/town, and the basis for most of them as in the assault weapons ban of 93' is that they aren' t stopping you from keeping and bearing arms , just certain types that have been deemed ( in thier eyes ) as crime guns or weapons of terror that have no place in society. and yes in the real world these bans are unconstitutional , orin hatch even said this in his attempt to lift the ban in washington dc , in a bill ( i think ) that he' s sponsoring to get on the floor.
