Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

I thought it was Ok. I was surprised at Perry and some of his answers especially relating to science and the whole SS issue. He certainly isn't afraid to stick with his beliefs but I wonder if that will be a strength or a liability down the road. Whether a person is right or wrong they still need to get elected and I wonder if he is smooth enough to please the majority. I think Romney and Gingrich did the best and Bachman didn't engage for some reason. I think Romney will have a difficult time in the early primaries especially the southern states due to his Mormon religion. I hope a few of them drop out soon so people can focus on the few that have a chance. Santorum, Huntsman, Caine and Paul dont have a chance and IMO stand in the way of a real debate. The media seemed to focus on Perry and I thought he handled it Ok but did stumble a bit. I was actually expecting a little more from him. Bachman needs to step it up between now and the next debate or she is done. I still think she has a chance though and what little she said was pretty good. Almost like she stepped back and let Perry and Romney have the light and would destroy each other. My bet is next debate she will be aggressive and Perry will come out flying and be a little more settled in.

i seldom watch political "debates" between members of the same party: That one was no exception. Bachmann seems to be fading into the limelight along with her promise of $2.00 gasoline.

No question that, by FAR, Gingrich is the smartest guy in the room, and despite having a pretty decent record of fiscal leadership, and reasonably consistent conservative principals, can't be elected because many folks are more concerned with 30 year old matters in his personal life than they are about the looming bankruptcy of our country... Gingrich is the one guy on the R side who would EASILY win debates against Obama. And, despite my disagreements with him on a couple of issues, the ticket this year should be Gingrich/Rubio...

I liked the way Gingrich took control after the slanted media biased question directed towards him. He is a true GOP person to be sure. Debate wise and experience wise he should be at the head of the pack. I am not sure if he will be able to weather the personal stigma though. In the back of my mind I keep expecting Palin to surface soon...perhaps after the next 3 debates and some of the competition has dropped out...especially Bachman. Whoever can harness the Tea party vote should win. I really don't see her doing anything other than being a distraction though.

I think Rubio has a big future. Smart, eloquent, young, photogenic... Kind of like JFK, but, with a better back story (son of Cuban immigrants who worked his way up, rather than descendant of a bootlegger born with a silver spoon....), and, with a political philosophy on the "right" side of the aisle. Only concern at this point is that he might be a bit too young and a bit too inexperienced. He will pull back a lot of Hispanic "Bush" voters who left when McCain was the candidate.

Oh man I am SO in agreement with you. I don't like Romney...he smacks of the "L" word, Perry kind'a puts me off as too much of a zealot (funny eh ? ) and he DID falter a couple times when asked about some things, but Gingrich, once again, distinguished himself as the only 'presidential' intellect in the room.

Bachmann is done....Paul is done....Huntsman is done.....Herman Caine, while he has a specific and detailed answer for every question they asked him, and while I definitely like him, he too is done....Santorum is done.....

It'd be a shame if the Republican base selected a candidate who could not beat Obama....seems that Perry is gonna be 'the man' and if he is, he'll send the Independents scurrying for the shadows while Romney's the only guy in the field who is being touted as capable of beating Bumbling Barry. Oh man.... Gingrich/Rubio would be a 'lock'.

I personally think anyone of them would be better than Obama. I did not see a one who proposed anything worse than what Obama has been pushing.

I do agree that Newt shined a little more. Or that is my oppinion.
