Default Obamacare hits me today.

I had a great summer, away from message boards, full of camping, fishing, gardening, a little shooting.... but now I'm back to the grind. Work days for teachers in my district, with students coming in a few short days.

As is customary, today we teachers are all informed of the new year's benefits changes.

Looks like I'll be paying 130% more for healthcare!!!! Yeah!!!! I just can't wait!!!!

For the first time in my career, I may have my first ever pay cut -- in terms of take home pay.

And why is it???? This is the first contract year with us that my carrier has to cover "children" up to 26 years old. Coverage ain't cheap, right? All those 24, 25, 26 year old kids can't be expected to move out and support themselves just yet. The rest of us have to keep carrying them.

It takes a village, you know, to raise a child -- up to 26 years old.

I just hope and pray the Constitutional nightmare that is "obamacare" gets to the SCOTUS soon, and they shoot it down once and for all.

ethiopii: Please stop posting falsehoods on this site! Obamacare does not increase healthcare costs it decreases healthcare costs; Obamacare does not increase the expenses of healthcare insurance to individuals. I know this because Nancy Pelosi said it was so! Please check with Nancy the next time you are tempted to post information like this. Failure to do so may qualify you for a free lobotomy in a government managed hospital near you! Sheesh, thanks a lot! Now we have to scramble a bunch of operators who could otherwise be dedicated to broadcasting texts to the faithful about how to deflect blame for the economic conditions from Obama and the Democrats instead to activate reeducation messages about this done deal on Healthcare!!! Very inefficient use of our robot-partisans!

I would take child deduction on your taxes for all your kids now under 26 and see what they say.

I feel your pain. I got word that in Sept., when we renew our insurance, that we will have , at the least, an increase of $100.00 extra each month for our insurance (all relative to policy). And the letter stated this is to meet the new mandates in the Affordable Care Act. I had a meeting with our insurace agent and I will be paying $2100.00 more a year. I shopped around with other providers, and $2100.00 increase is the best I could find. And another kicker, our copays and everything else is going up. My deductible has increased as well.

Yep, and Obama, Reid, and Pelosi were too stupid to see how bad it failed. Thanks for pointing out how blind and clueless the Democraps are. A Republican made a big mistake, and the Democraps are too dumb to learn from it.

No, not even close sal. Romney and the folks in MA are allowed under their constitution to invoke such a plan. Obama wasn't under our federal constitution. Besides that, this is Obama's crown jewel of achievement. Are you saying he shouldn't take full credit for it?

Sounds like change you can believe in. I wonder how well the typically liberal teachers union will feel about this?

I am a little surprised at how big the change is. The only thing I have heard is the change forcing insurers to continue to carry kids out to 27 years from what ever it is now. Speaking for myself, when I was in my 20s I had essentially ZERO medical costs. I never got sick and I never went to the doctor. Actually, I guess I sometimes got sick but I didn't go to the doctor. I had laryngytis but didn't go see the doctor. I figured it would go away and it did. Maybe the change is due to other things in the act, such as birth control? What else goes into effect now?
