Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Love it, more speeches and a bus tour. Saving us money no doubt!

Seriously, what happen to pivoting towards jobs? I guess it was a gramatical error. Pivoting toward one job.

What is amazing to me, actually, are two things:
1: that he thinks he's going to get 4 more years
2: that there WILL be people stupid enough to vote for him

It boggles the mind.....even Obamacare's central tenet, the individual mandate, has been struck down by the 11th circuit. And when are any of the republican candidates going to start 'reminding' the great unwashed masses that while the bush tax cuts don't expire until 2013, the permanent adoption or temporary extension MUST be done during the Obama administration or everybody pays more taxes ?

Obama is living in his own world, surrounded by psycophants who tell him nothing but how wonderful he is. This is NOT uncommon for important people by the way and explains some of their silliness and occasional inability to see the obvious.

I read that Obama is thinking about trying to throw out a few economic gold nuggets. One of these was improving the patent process. This makes me cringe because I am a patent professional (patent agent). Generally when those who are unfamiliar with the complexity of patent laws and patents start to muck around in this subject, bad things happen. I don't know what Obama has in mind for the patent realm. He has said that people have to wait too long to get patents issued (true enough) and that this is somehow impeding business, purportedly because people can't bring their innovations to market while waiting for their patents to issue (not true). Once on file, businesses are going to bring their products to market -- they aren't going to wait for a patent to be issued. Maybe if the federal government let the US Patent and Trademark Office KEEP all the fees they receive from those applying for patents rather than skimming this off like the maffia skimming off "protection money" from businesses they could afford to hire and pay enough to retain quality patent examiners to clear the patent application backlog that leads to pendency in some art units of 5 years. While this is a good thing, it is not going to nudge the GDP up at all. This just shows one more area where Obama is clueless about what levers can be pushed to help business and the economy go faster.

I don't think Obama understands. He thinks -- as do many Democrats -- that talk is sufficient. Unfortunately for Obama, most people in the real world judge people based on their actions -- on what they do, not on what they say. Cheap talk and promises seemed to be sufficient to persaude independents to vote for him in 2008. That isn't going to work in 2012, is my guess. I will relish watching his champaign go down like the Titanic! Do remember that one of Obama's promises was to relieve and fix the economy. He has abundantly shown that this is beyond his ability. The economy is worse -- much worse. the rating downgrade was DIRECTLTY the result of his over-the-top spending. He has single-handedly created a new vigorous political movement that did not exist before he was inaugurated.

That is an interesting point. Obama's greatest legacy may be the fomentation of the Tea Party movement. That may be his most positive impact.

You may be right about the sycophants. It just illustrates the failure of this administration, and the ignorance of his supporters who thought that inexperienced academicians would pick up the slack and lack of knowledge even THEY admitted, was a fault of the neophyte Obama. ANd I agree again, on the fact that it was the Obama administration may be the biggest boon tgo the republican party because while America had 'Bush Fatigue', they had no idea about the cart-full of road apples the American Quisling Obama expected us to swallow once he was in office. I believe he's done, personally. His approval ratings are said to be below 40%, the economy in in the tank, we're still fighting 3 wars and spending way beyond our means, and we've suffered a downgrade in our credit rating on his watch.
The republicans will vote republican...that's a lock. The democrats will vote for obama, or stay home. It's the independent voters he's lost...these dopes bought the Hope and Change malarkey and are pretty ticked and disillusioned about how that ship sank.

Still, there is a large section of the population who will call Obama successful, and will laud the democrat spend and tax modus operandi, blaming the downgrade on Tea Party obstinacy in the face of default. Holy cripes pass the Kool Aid....

Question, if Obama has such a great plan to put America back to work, why won't he tell us? How many pivots has he made towards jobs? How many times has he claimed to have a laser focus on jobs? Seems to remind me of this guy VC who claimed to have a plan for saving SS but was afraid to post it. also, I heard he was going to have another jobs summit or something. It was the same plan as last time. Meet in a group, divide into small groups and report back. Hmmm, sure seems like a lot of talking going on.

On a side note, do you think the Secret Service is making him ride in the back of the bus?
