Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Wow, that kind of stung. Then again, as the saying goes, "the truth hurts."

it was scary enough when i thought obama was doing all this to us on purpose, to help "fundamentally change" america. Somehow its even scarier to think hes doing it because he just doesnt have a clue, but im starting to believe it more and more every day.

I agree. La Rochefoucauld says that "In order to establish ourselves in the world we do everything possible to appear as if we are already established." We wear slick suits. We drive a BMW. We wear expensive sunglasses. I think this describes Obama's projections. But the campaign is over, he is in the White House. The problem is now that he is established in the world he has to rely on more than appearances, he has to rely on his own judgment and wisdom and analysis skills. It seems to me these are singularly wanting.

Even if I allow that Obama has a shrewd game he is playing -- more on that later -- this doesn't excuse him for unforced errors outside of and unrelated to that game. Foolish, unforced errors. There is a time to speak and time to be silent -- read Ecclesiastes.

Possibly the shrewd game Obama is playing is to wratchet up the government spending decisively and permanently. So far this seems to be working. Under Obama government spending has increased from 19% of GDP on average over the last 40 years to 26% of GDP. That is a 37% increase of government spending, a strong quantum jump (26/19 = 1.37). If he can make that stick, that is a major change in the fundamental nature of our government. Maybe it doesn't matter whether he is or is not reelected if merely he can make that spending become perceived as "the new normal." What this would mean is that the fundamental scale of government would have gotten much bigger -- not evolutionarily, not incrementally, but in a step, quantum jump fashion.

I have yet to understand why bho is touted as such a great speaker. It makes no sense whatsoever. President Bush was ridiculed for some the same things that bho is much worse about doing.

As much as I dislike his policies, I really want to listen to him just to see what comes out...but I can't. The constant pauses, the constant "uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh.................", the downright arrogant look on his face even (which wouldn't stop me--I could listen without looking), and finally that nerve-wracking whistle every time he says a word with the letter "S" in it...arrgghhh!!!!!

That's a great speaker??????? IMO he's way behind President Bush. Shoot, he's way behind Porky Pig.
