Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Buyer Beware

Well it used to be if you bought in bulk the price would be cheaper but apparently Manufacturers think we are too ignorant to understand that we are being taken advantage again with their latest scam. First they did the reduced amount packaging scam with the same sized package yet the weight is less. Even with the Government requiring the price per unit label they will price some same type items by the ounce and others by the pound just to confuse. Then they try the on sale scam only to find out that if you peel up the tag the everyday price is the so called reduced sale price. Of course don’t forget about the FDA approval of allowed pink slime up to 15% for ground meat, processed or pre-made products and the allowed added water up to 10% for all products. Don’t get me started on allowing similar fish/seafood to be substituted as the same item. Or the fact wholesale clubs actually sell at retail prices, limit products to one or two brands, and their prices can be beat with local retail sales. Now Manufacturers are charging more for bulk items than the smaller item price. I have always paid attention to pricing but now I need to take a calculator with me and check every item to find the best deal!

Some examples no brands or store stated:

Natural Breakfast bars: Box of 5 - $2.00, Box of 10 - $4.50
Coffee: 1 lb size - $.31/oz, new larger size - $.35/oz
Milk: The one gallon size more than double the 1/2 gal size
Cornish game hens $2.49 each or $7.99 for a pack of two
Dry Beans, Rice etc. - cheaper by the oz. in smaller quantities
Paper products watch out:
Toilet Paper: four rolls at $3.29 - 10 rolls for $8.99 - $.31 per sheet vs. $.42 per sheet

What Marketing Study let some bad apples in the bunch taint us all to be intellectually challenged to figure out this one?

It's a 'done deal' that manufacturers and packagers need to be creative to stay in business. It's a 'fact of life' that things go up in cost....gunpowder used to be pretty cheap and now it's not....ammo (cartridges as well as components).....gasolene... Every time you plunk down money for things like this you see the same product and pay more for it. People have to make a living and the guys who package Temp-Tee cream cheese want the same things out of life as I do (I am guessing but pretty sure I'm accurate) so I don't grudge them the few extra cents. I do know that others who are more 'strapped' (low incomes, unemployed, living on fixed incomes) are exposed to more of the misery of not being able to afford to do what I do...I do not 'shop' for grocery items....I just pick up what I want and whatever it costs I pay. I have never worried about the costs of things like this, but have noticed a decidedly STEEP increase in the costs of my 'grocery runs' and it don't matter if it's to Costco, ShopRite, Kings or Bishop's. It comes with living longer...enjoy it ! Lots of us don't live to complain about these things ! How many out there remember regular gas at 85 cents a gallon ? 35-cents pack of smokes ?

I started when they were .50 cents quit when they were $2.00 because it was too expensive. What are they now $5.00/pack?

AT when the price of gasoline goes up so does everything else. And the price of gasoline has not exactly been going down lately.

Here's the end deal...government will grow. At every turn government is given every opportunity to become absolute.

You will see government extend their regulations of these things and it never needed to happen. Business could greatly reduce it's cost and the cost of all American by acting like they they care about their customers. This is the answer to reducing government and government wouldn't even play a role. The people would deny government power and refuse to increase it's funding at every level for 2 reasons. First they wouldn't need the government and second they wouldn't tolerate abusive authority thrust upon someone they care about. The people would have more income to support their friends, their friends would have not only more of their own money to keep, but more money and the added patriotic shot in the arm. As a result the people would be harder on themselves and less tolerant of people who abuse themselves at the expense of others. The rest of the world would be in awe at what this country would produce and forced to adapt the same style of self governance simply because they would not have a market to do business in otherwise.

All done without the aid of government making the consuming huge black cloud that covers this land irrelevant. The sun would shine through and the darkness recede because it had no other choice.

Why in the world would that surprise you? Ever hear of inflation, or the cost of doing business. You’re also making more money than you did 20 years ago.

I just....well......the only kind of 'shopping' I'd consider is say, if Store #1 was selling CocaCola for 5 bucks for 2 liters, and store #2 was selling hte same thing for $6, then I may change my shopping habits...but out here, my supermarket is 9 miles away....the 'other' market is 5 miles away.....the close one is expensive....so it may actually be a 'wash' to shop at the more expensive place, in order to save the gas....

i can see where you are coming from.
Its product and demand.
Like I got an F-350 for $900 less than a F-250...it was just because the F-250 were in higher demand. I am not complaining though.
if ya check back later, ya might find that it will cost more for 5 than it will for 10. it just depends what needs to move.

The idea here, is to be vigilant on expenditures if you need to be.
NOBODY knows the 'unit prices' for everything they buy. But then again, that's why
they call it SHOPPING and not BUYING I guess.
