As you all know, Rupert Murdoch has successfully ruined News of the World, a newspaper that has been business for over 150 years. It now looks like Fox News may facing some hard times. The FBI is looking into whether Fox News hacked into 9/11 victims voicemails (as their counterparts across the pond hacked into other victims voicemails). This would represent the newest low for any news organization in the history of the world. Well done Fox News, fair and balanced (and felonious).
Funny how this is some kind of a big story. Reporters actually doing their jobs. Let's see, you had no problem with wikileaks correct? No problem with NYtimes correct? I'm sure you had a problem with Boehner's cell phone being hack right?
Notice, he shut it down. He didn't try to keep it going.
Much to do about nothing.

I'll decide when this fruit ripens on the vine. HD may find that eating the fruit before it's ripe may get him a nice bellyache and a case of the atomic s**ts. That being said, is it
actually a crime to hack voicemails ? I'd never heard of this before and would 'pity the fool' who hacks into my voicemails and has to endure hours of the sort of drivel being left as 'important messages' on my account. I agree it's much ado about nothing.
The real question here is, who did any hacking, and if it was done why was it done?
Until the details come out completely all is pure speculation.
What killed the UK paper was that the administration of the paper promoted the illegal resource gathering.
Bergall, it is a crime to hack people's personal accounts. So anyone who accessed voicemails and who did not have some sort of warrant, or exigent reason (law enforcement dealing with an immediate issue), and was not the owner of the account, broke the law.
The one exception is e-mail being intercepted and read. Even that varies from state to state in legality. Some states have enacted laws declaring e-mail to be like the US mail.
So far from what I understand it was a PI who did this and not the folks at the papers. It's much to do about nothing. However, CNN and NYtimes certainly will try to use it to bury their competitor who is kicking their butt!

Live and learn I guess. Thanks for the info...if a crime was committed, then let the games begin. I do not, however, believe that Murdock's empire will crumble as a result of this. Also, I do not believe Murdock had any personal involvement in any illegality engaged in by his reports. There is a question at this point of exactly what was done, how, and by whom. This fruit is still green...
