Default These cops should be tasered in the nuts...

...every 15 minutes for life.

The GANG mentality of the police seems ever increasing, and it shows here in the fact that 20 cops responded to the call for backup. They are trained to look out for themselves individually and as a unit WELL above and beyond the call to protect and serve the people. We are seeing evidence of this more and more every day, folks. You may think you have recourse in court...and fine, maybe you do...and maybe the cops will get suspended or even jailed (which is nothing compared to the way you will have been violated). But what are you gonna do IN THE MOMENT this is YOU or YOUR KID? You can't retaliate. You can't defend yourself. You cannot do ANYTHING about this mental disease that is spreading among cops like wildfire.

Don't get me wrong, not all cops are like this and I have met some very respectable officers and know a few (also know one or two of the other kind). I am simply saying that this is scary stuff, and I don't think there is a single thing on this earth that ENRAGES me more than this kind of CRAP:

http://www.courthousenews.com/2011/06/29/37770.htm

DAYTON, Ohio (CN) - Dayton police "mistook" a mentally handicapped teenager's speech impediment for "disrespect," so they Tasered, pepper-sprayed and beat him and called for backup from "upward of 20 police officers" after the boy rode his bicycle home to ask his mother for help, the boy's mom says.
Pamela Ford says her "mentally challenged/handicapped" son Jesse Kersey, 17, was riding his bike near his Dayton home when Officer Willie Hooper stopped him and tried to talk to him.
The mom says that "Prior to the incident described below, defendant Hooper knew Jesse and was aware that Jesse was mentally challenged/handicapped and a minor child."
Nonetheless, Ford says, Hooper "apparently took Jesse's speech impediment for disrespect ... [and] began yelling at Jesse and after Jesse attempted to communicate with him[.] Jesse, being a minor and mentally challenged/handicapped, turned and rode his bike back to his home in an attempt to ask his mother, Ford, to help him communicate with defendant Cooper," according to the complaint in Montgomery County Court.
On the way, the mom says, "A neighbor attempted to communicate with Officer Hooper about Jesse's disabilities and was told to go back into his home, or he would be arrested."
As Ford opened her front door, she says, Hooper and co-defendant Officer John Howard, "fired their Tasers, striking Jesse in the back with both probes."
"Once inside the house, defendant Hooper and defendant Howard began to struggle with Jesse, who was standing against the back door with his hands up in front of his face, saying 'Please quit, please quit.'
"On numerous occasions, Ford and a family friend, Christopher Peyton, informed Officer Hooper that Jesse was mentally challenged/handicapped, and that Jesse did not understand what was happening," the complaint states.
But the mom says the cops continued their assault: "Officer Howard utilized his Cap-Stun pepper spray and sprayed Jesse ... [and] struck Jesse with a closed fist in the upper chest area.
"Officer Howard utilized his ASP and repeatedly struck Jesse in the upper left side of his left thigh.
"Back-up units were requested to Jesse's house, wherein upward of 20 police officers from different jurisdictions were present.
"At no point, even after being advised of Jesse's mental challenge/handicap by Jesse's family and numerous bystanders, did defendant Hooper, defendant Howard, or any other police officer present, attempt to communicate with Jesse or explain in terms he could understand as to why Jesse was being chased.
"Jesse was handcuffed and hogtied before being placed in the back of a police cruiser.
"Jesse was charged with assault on a peace officer, resisting arrest, and obstructing official business."
However, "Jesse was declared incompetent by the Montgomery County Juvenile Court and the charges against Jesse were dismissed."
Jesse and his mom seek damages from the city and the two lead officers, for false imprisonment, false arrest, malicious prosecution, assault, battery, excessive use of force, infliction of emotional distress and civil conspiracy.

If anything should be privatized it should be police protection.

Pass concealed carry everywhere, all 50 states.

Save money, less taxes, less police.

The stories of police abuse are legion. This is just another one of them.
Nobody ever said the cops were perfect....lotta good ones out there....some bad apples spoil it for all the others, however. NYC was rife with such 'cops'...detainees being released from precinct houses with broken jaws, busted noses, this is not new, and it will never stop. I do not know what can be done to ensure that LEO's remain dispassionate, professional, and ply their trade in accordance with the law. The nature of their business precludes gentility, I would think.....

After the details came out about the kids being disabled, how could some of the 20 or so responding officers not intervened and let the mother calm her child down?

More than one person tried to intervene on behalf of the young man before things escalated. This should not have happened like this.

Some people should not be LEOs. I don't know if more training is needed for some areas, or if they need better applicants. I can't see this happening in my community at any rate. It makes me grateful to know that the cops around here are better than in other places.

It definitely should be investigated and is troubling that the original officer supposedly knew the defendant and about his mental issues.

Better training is always helpful but having a selective hiring and probation process is equally important. While I don't think a CCW would have helped in this particular incident (would have likely made it worse), I do believe that having a CCW law in all 50 states would be a good idea. I disagree on privatizing police and think it would result in even less professionalism along with a lot of other problems.

And last, but certainly not least, no, cops are not like that everywhere. Most cops do a good job and use a lot of common sense.

It's a sad thing when the Law Enforcement Officers in one's own community must be feared. It makes for bad relations. THat unfortunate community has been brutalized. I believe that 'heads must roll' if the rift between LEO's and the community is to be healed.

so much for protecting and serving...more like go on a power trip if some punk kid smarts off to you, still aint a reason fer any of this, him being handicapped is icing on the cake fer the media.

maybe there are a few good ones..but if ya cant get 1 outta 20, it dont matter, odds are your better off not trusting any of them, and maybe ya get lucky once.

I would expect this in a big city, but podunk fuggin O-HI-HO?

Not sure how you( or anyone else) define poduck using population#,s- but you do relize ohio has 11.5 million ppl & dayton metro area as defined by its borders - almost 1 mill & they are within a days drive to 50+% of the population of north America.

But i have come to expect a lot from big citys myself( most not good)- there not one of my fav places.

Guess there was almost a little mini riot in that town.( 2 out of 7 man police force where fired- i think that helped some.

Agreed, most cops are very professional and use their authority wisely. And in any trade or profession, you are bound to find the occasional bad apple.

The problem is that the good apples will always support the bad appples, and knowing this, the bad apples are free to spread the rot to other apples who might otherwise stay solid.

Ask any member of the bar if you can ever get one cop to contradict another cop's testimony. You'll get a big fat, "are you kidding?"
