It’s pretty common in most states commercial buildings are required by Fire Departments to have a Knox Box; they are not too expensive however most about 500.00 without installation. I have them in all my Movie Theaters throughout the country. A Knox Box will certainly keep the fire department from breaking down a front door in order to gain access to a building, and that is the principal reason for requiring the Knox Box. The Fire Department needs to have access to a building when responding to a fire alarm during nonbusiness hours of operations.
Since only the Fire Department has a key to the Knox Box they are fairly safe from thieves, but that doesn’t mean that thieves will not figure a way to get in anyway.
