GOA Alert

Gun Owners of America
Official Corruption in the Obama Administration
About to Take Center Stage
-- It's now time to defund Project Gunrunner!

A story that Gun Owners of America has been following over the past several months is ready to explode next week in the news.

If you have been reading our newsletter, The Gun Owners, or watching our videos on the GOA website, you know what Project Gunrunner is all about. It refers to an operation where the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearm and Explosives (ATF) was working with gun shops, approving firearms purchases to buyers who were suspected smugglers.

While this scandalous activity remained hidden for some time, it really went viral in the news media after one of the guns sold to a smuggler was later used to murder Border Patrol agent Brian Terry in December.

Since then, GOA has been lobbying the Congress to hold Congressional hearings to investigate the corruption in the Obama administration, specifically in relation to Project Gunrunner. GOA has corresponded with President Obama on this issue and has asked it members several times to urge their legislators to call for hearings themselves.

Well, there is good news to report . Beginning next week, the House of Representatives is set to commence hearings into Project Gunrunner -- which also goes by the names of Project Gunwalker or Fast and Furious.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) is the point man leading the investigation on the House side. His hearings are sure to reveal much new information, but even so, he has already discovered quite a bit.

Project Gunrunner “was authorized at the highest level,” Issa told a radio audience this past Tuesday. “This decision was made at least by people in the Office of Attorney General Holder.”

This underscores the tremendous hypocrisy and antagonism against gun owners on part of the Obama Administration. After all, officials (like the President) were blaming American gun stores for letting firearms slip into gun smugglers’ hands and, thus, fueling much of Mexico ’s violence.

But all the while, the administration was quietly approving the sales of those firearms to those very same gun smugglers.

“[The ATF] apparently did this,” said GOA Executive Director Larry Pratt in his letter to the President, “in part, so it could push gun control in Congress by demonstrating that guns used in Mexican violence came from the United States .”

ACTION: Please urge your Representative to closely follow the upcoming hearings into Project Gunrunner. Tell them that it is unconscionable for Congress to be funding a program that allows the Obama Administration:

1. To put guns into the hands of suspected gun smugglers; and then,

2. To turn around and blame law-abiding gun owners for the problem!

Project Gunrunner needs to be defunded IMMEDIATELY!

The more I read about that project, the more I'm trying to understand how anyone could ever conceive that the plan would work.

It's based off of a false predication (legal shops selling guns in large quantities to single buyers illegally), and the tracking capability for the sold merchandise was poor at best.

A monstrous waste of taxpayer resources at the very least. That doesn't even factor in the lives lost because of the farce of a project.

I'm not certain the people in charge understand the laws on the books. If they did...

It sounds like some people ought to be charged with crimes.

I think the person who should be charged has immunity. He was elected President after all.

It's too bad the Constitution doesn't include incompetence along with "high crimes and misdemeanors.

One of my initial thoughts was that they were trying to bolster their claim that 90% of the weapons that the drug cartels were using came from the U.S.

The claim that blew up in their face

Yeah I know! I'll put my tin foil hat back on!!!

Why this is not a *much* bigger story is unbelievable - well it is not considering the party affiliation of the president.

I was reading an NRA article a few months back when they wrote an article about the Obama administration's claims to that fact.

According to the DOJ reports used for the article only about 10% of the firearms got traced to any manufacturer. Apparently many of the guns had no serial numbers whatsoever. That says a lot by itself. Either the cartels are buying kits and assembling them so there are no serial numbers, or more likely, there are companies making firearms without serial numbers to avoid being caught selling black market arms.

Seeing as such a small percentage of firearms are traceable, I'm not certain why anyone would worry about that aspect of the problem. If I were the Mexican President I'd be more worried about wiping out the militant nations that exist within my borders. Then again, that's just me.

Two people were killed with guns that were sent into Mexico by the BATFE. The BATFE agent who ordered the implementation of operation Fast and Furious should be charged with murder along with those agents who carried out his orders.

US gun manufacturers have no impact on guns going to Mexico. Those guns are not traceable because they were not made in the USA. The BATFE cannot trace foreign made guns that never came into the US.

Why would any self respecting drug kingpin pay $1,500-$2,000 for an AR-15 when he can buy 10 AK-47s for the same price on the international market? A drug cartel does not have a few guns at a time smuggled across the US-Mexican border. Reason: The supply is unreliable. Guns are bought in shipping container lots from international arms suppliers along with grenades and rocket launchers.

The M16 rifles in the hands of the drug cartels come from the Mexican army. Clinton gave the Mexican army billions of dollars worth of US military vehicles and weapons. Mexican troops in the tens of thousands desert the Mexican army every year. Many, if not most, take their guns with them.

Is not criminal negligence a "high crime" ? To direct a government agency to supply weapons of mass destruction (isn't that what Sara Brady would call a select-fire weapon ?) to an individual or an entity which will use it to take human life... is that not a 'high crime' ?
Same as calling a hit-man, in my opinion. If this can be traced back to 'da turd' then what ?
