This is surprising why ? In NYC, the most demoralized people you will ever see is a NYC school teacher. Kids don't wanna learn...parents will not participate in the kids' education...teachers have ZERO authority in the classroom....kids have ZERO respect for their teachers (or education in general, apparently) and when one of the little mutants acts up in a physical way, teachers are forbidden to call the police to have a criminal situation remediated. It is ridiculous and it is intolerable. In NYC, there's an extra added treat where the Board of Education will routinely either 'bench' white substitutes or send them into schools so bad that black teachers will not go. Conversely, insofar as the staff at the Board of Education is about 95% black, black teachers get more juice in getting better assignments, more attention to greivances, etc. They are right in Philly. Whites cannot teach black students...but it's got nothing to do with the teachers. I would not be an 'inner city' (that's the politically correct term nowadays, correct ? ) schoolteacher regardless of the taxpayer-funded union bene's I'd be promised. Let the black teachers in Philly teach 'their own'....see where it gets 'em.
