The State of Michigan has gotten very free and easy with food stamps. (It's not actually stamps. You get a card that's like a credit card, called the Bridge card.) They were handing them out to college students like candy samples. And they found A LOT of people were using them for cash at the casinos. There has been A LOT of criticism. This will add fuel to the fire and some of the people running the program are going to get burned.

it happenes everywhere...my neighbor runs a bbq "business", i saw him at the store loading up on meat, and saw him swipe his lone star card(food stamp cc), and he sells brisquets fer $100 cooked. then they go smoke crack.(i dont know fer sure, but they dont use it to make the house look better)

One day in Saudi i walked into the room where our translators hung out. Hani, a Jordanian said: "There's an American ask him." Hani claimed that another translator was entertaining them with lies about the US. Someone said: "Tell us you don't have something called food stamps in the US". The guy in question had visited his brother in Detroit, MI. The brother owned a grocery store and he was buying food stamps for fifty cents on the dollar.

Told them US did have food stamps and folks often sold them to gamble, and to buy booze or dope. All those Arabs agreed that food stamps were the nuttiest thing they ever heard of.

I know of a bbq joint just like that. What gets me is when you go into Walmart and you see people with two baskets, one with food and another with alcohol. They use their LoneStar card to buy the food and get cash, then use the cash they got out of their card to pay for the alcohol.

Something else, why can you buy candy, chips, and soda with a Lonestar card? I see them used all the time to buy crap at 7-ll, Skinnys, Allsups, etc. etc.
