I don't know whether the US constitution would allow this, so maybe this is all silly talk. But I'm willing to play this game, even knowing possibly it has no feasability at all.
Indeed. It would be WONDERFUL to partition off the liberals into their own enclaves. I would imagine there would be some way to make arrangements for their tax and spend policies to be confined to those areas. Yah baby! Let's isolate Chicago from the suburbs and from rural Illinois. What do you suppose the non-Chicago policies would look like? So heavily tax and spend? So anti-gun? Probably not. Let's isolate San Francisco and Los Angeles. Let those people pay for their liberal largesse and let the vineyard owners keep their money. New York City? You're on your own baby!!! Imagine what would happen to tax rates in those places?!!! Will the liberals stay in these places and pay the high tax rate? Probably not.
Of course, if you are going to be fracturing off liberal states in aggregately conservative states, this has an implication for the balance of power in the US Senate. Clearly some aggregately liberal states -- California, New York, Chicago -- are going to need to be likewise fractured.
Lots of implications and unintended consequences. It does seem that the more you make the people who vote for stupid liberal spending schemes also pay for them through their own taxes . . . that seems like a good thing.
But again . . . this is probably not constitutionally feasible.
