Is this time to leave the UN? I see that some official in the UN is now asking for information pursuant to our taking out Ossama Bin Laden to evaluate whether we violated any UN rules. I hope we have the good sense to tell them . . . "Ya, we'll get on it right away, mate! Va te faire feutre!"
What a useless institution. I do not honestly see what good it does us to keep affiliated with this organization . . . keep it located in the US with diplomatic immunity allowed for all those delegates . . . fund this organization. What effective action has the UN EVER achieved? Don't talk about Korea, because far from a balanced UN action, that was about 90% US and 10% assorted UN token forces. Other actions?
I say we tell them, "Ya, we'll get that information to you, but we're going to wait until our teams assasinate a ream of top echelon al queda leaders that Ossama Bin Laden 'friended' on FaceBook. So let us get that done first, then we'll gather the Bin Laden info up along with the assasinations of these other dudes, wrap it up into one nice package, attach a bow, and have it delivered by overnight mail."

Obviously it is better to talk things out than resort to a shooting war. So I am in favor of an institution where nations can gather and talk things out.
However too often it seems there is a lot of absurdity that goes on at the U.N. Syria or China lecturing the U.S. on human rights, Israel a perpetual "whipping boy" are just two such examples.
What is needed is a massive over-haul of the organization (it won't happen any time soon). So that the good the U.N. does is not over-shadowed by the bad. The security council is based upon the allied victors of WW II I believe.
I would also like to see the U.N. out of the U.S., Switzerland seems to be the obvious place for a U.N. type of organization. I was never sure why it was here in the first place unless it was a prestige thing.

I suppose the UN does some good things -- improving health in 3rd world countries maybe? But in the arena of climate change it is useless and in the area of moderating political tensions and stopping "shooting wars" I fail to see its efficacy.
The US will never leave the UN and the UN will never leave the US. Who would future US presidents turn to when their egos get bruised? There would be no international body to legitimize their wars.

Improving health in third world countries? Yep, to the tune of 5000 dead. Thanks UN!!

I agree with Falcon, don’t we have anyone in office with the stones to do the right thing!
