You got bigger problems whether Palin is on the ticket. You guys are about to completely go down the tubes and it doesn't matter if illegals get coverage or not. On a side note, a judge will rule they do anyway. You guys can't afford a single payer system and you better hope it don't pass. Your population is aging and the young aren't going to pay for your care. They will flee out in a heart beat while the dead beats flee in. Too funny.

I think Margaret Thatcher said it best. "The trouble with socialism is you always run out of other people's money!"
I mean really. If you are smart, young, educated, energetic, and ambitious . . . are you going to keep living in Vermont and pay for such a system? And how long will it take for the illegals to flock here to get the free health care? And how long will it take the successful businesses to move out? or liquidate and move their money into some other venture? I mean, it isn't rocket science: this system is going to crash and burn. Not the first week the system is enacted. Probably not the first year the system is enacted. Maybe, if the system is enacted (and it removes the exclusion for illegals), we can start a pool to see who can guess how long it takes for things to get really bad in Vermont. 5 years? 10 years?
A state doing this on a unilateral basis . . . not exactly lookin down the road very far and contemplating the potential unintended consequences.

Wrong way to go in my opinion. I am not surprised since we have a Liberal Governor for the next 1 1/2 years with a sympathetic or should I say pathetic legislature. I doubt that they will cram this through before we get our next governor which will certainly be a GOP. Sorry to have to tell you but all that really won't impact me personally other than higher taxes because all my health care is taken care as a result of my past employment. Higher taxes are just the way of life for me and have been for quite some time. I just hate to see them going to third world countries.
Alsatian I just read your post after I posted. Good job and you are right on. Great post. Many will leave but I could never replace what I have here from a quality of living point and being a life long vter I probably will always stay. I don't think I could be happy living anywhere else.

FYI, MA did it and it's been a disaster.

Do you know the differences in the laws? I'm curious if they're are modeling it after MASS or something totally different...

I love Christmas lights. They remind me of the people who voted for Obama. They all hang together; half of them don't work, and the ones that do, aren't that bright.
For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who do
not understand, no explanation is possible.
A golf course is a willful and deliberate misuse of a perfectly good rifle range.
I don't. First off, Obamacare was to take care of everyone, but we all know how that turned out. A complete and utter disaster. Not even the Dems are proud of it and a total of 0 ran on it during the last election. Furthermore, we are now up to something like 1000 waivers with a big chunck going to Unions. The same folks who bank rolled Obama's election as well as this plan. FYI, congress is now investigating the kick backs for Obamacare.
So when it comes to VT. What's the point? The liberal state has Obamacare already. They have Masscare that is ruining the state. Why are they doing this? I will tell you why. Liberals always believe despite their policies never working out anywhere else, it was because not the right person or persons were running it. The failures of utopia are never the fact utopia is a dream.
