Interesting. I read the whole article that was linked. Doesn't seem to be particularly outrageous. While reading this I thought of how it must have been somewhat comforting to have your mental boundaries constrained to the borders of the US. Superman was ONLY concerned with the US (arguably only his home city, but I'm not enough of a Superman expert to say). So much easier when he was just doing battle with petty criminals then with larger, global issues.

Yea, who would have thunk Superman, who was a childhood hero fighting fictitious, outlandish, characters, would get caught up in the politics of the day.

I do not see how Superman could have been a U.S. citizen to begin with. Not only was he not born in this country, he was not even born on this planet. He arrived here without a passport and an immigrant visa issued by a U.S. Embassy or Consulate and did not come through a designated port of entry. He had no U.S. citizen first degree relatives who could file a petition on his behalf and while his home planet did blow up, U.S. immigration law only provides for refuge for foreign nationals fleeing political persecution.
While U.S. law does provide for admission into the U.S. for individuals with unique capabilities, such as European scientists in the 1930's and ***anese baseball players in recent years, which Superman certainly has, he would have needed a U.S. sponsor to file a petition for him and a U.S. Embassy or Consulate to issue him a visa before he could present to Immigration officers at the port of entry and enter the U.S. legally.
I believe he was adopted by Jonathan and Martha Kent. What happens when a non-citizen is adopted by two American citizens? Somebody call Angelina... She probably knows.

Ouch, that
Eft a mark. Just to be sure, what was the waiting time way back then for a couple adopting a baby to get citizenship?

I first posted this as a silly, tongue and cheek article. But after thinking on it, Superman was a display of American excellence, and American pride. What does this article say about that now?
