Sent me an email of the upcoming meeting on the 19th of April
What was in email...
Game Fish and Parks will be hosting the Open House on April 19th. We will be talking about wildlife issues in the county. Mainly Deer. But if you have anything you would like to talk about feel free to bring those items up.
The last one we had in Canton was a flop! Only two or three people showed up. Please come and tell GF&P how you feel about these issues(Good or Bad).
I made up several flyers and put them around..as well as I emailed Neil the word file of the flyers and said he could maybe print some and get to otther towns like Worthing, Lennox, Harisburg etc etc....if he did I have no clue
I also submited the flyer to the Sioux Valley News and convinced them to place it in the paper...and they did....free of charge
the email the SDGF&P sent out the 15th of April was waaaaaaay too late...people need more than 4 days notice of a meeting????????
if it weren't for Neil and I there may have been a handfull of people there (if that) and not the largest meeting statewide
Suggestions for future meeting...
1.get email notification out no less than 10 days prior to the meeting planned
2. It's free to put in local paper (at least here it was)
3. Print up some flyers and have co's or whomever post them around the county
I am a firm believer in hunter/fisherman input and I gathered at the meeting that you are also...getting the word out early will maybe get more input...(not 4 days prior too) maybe get more people at the meetings and you'll get input
Example is a quote from email of the forwarded SDGF&P email of informing of meeting the 19th.....I received it just today...some people only check email maybe once a week or more...'
I might add he is a very very avid hunter!!
Great timing for the farmers and a nice 4 day notice. They really don't give a crap about what we think. Farmers are typically in the fields the 19th of April so maybe consider early April vs. Later April...hope that helps...being cool and wet this year some farmers were able to make it
Just a FYI....ever since Tom Petry's death ( old GW) and the "I'm going to clean up Petry's mess" ...escapade Shawn Winkman went on there are several people who used to respect the SDGF&P..but because of Shawns rampage many now HATE the SDGF&P
By the way I think Jeremy the new GM is doing great...he has common sence and doesn't maybe do every little thing by "the book"..."the book" in my opinion is for people who have no common sence and need direction on what is right or wrong...people with common sence only need "the book" as a guidline
