A kindergartner!? Every bit of this should be on the parents, When I was that age I knew to never touch a gun unless told otherwise; & its not like any kid should have access to firearms.

Well that's the ticket; a kid should NEVER have access to a gun. I keep my hand guns in reach, until my grandchildren come over, then they are put in a safe place. Even though they are not supposed to be where my guns are they are still children and cannot think responsible enough!

The problem for this poor kid doesn't have parents, he has sperm donors.

My family has owned guns for as many generations as they have been in the US on my Father's side of the family. There have been 0 gun accidents.

Simple common sense in gun handling procedures, and putting rules in place for the kids has made this happen. The Grandmother should be charged with some type of felony. She obviously lacks the skills to keep her own kin safe, and felons can't own firearms.

You just can't fix stupid.

This is the exact reason why we need to remove all the warning labels and safety labels off over everything and just let nature take its course. It make take 10 years but the Darwin theory will prevail and make a more intelligent society.

The problem with 'the Darwin theory' is that small children with guns don't kill their idiot parents...they kill their age mates and themselves. That's too much 'collateral damage' and invalidates your postulation.

Darwinian theory only affects populations by culling the 'terminally unfit' BEFORE they reproduce, not after. The determining factor being that the terminally stupid don't get to pass down their 'stupid gene' to their kids...too late here...! This is, of course, assuming a couple of things:
1: the kids are as stupid as their parents and are not 'just being kids'
2: the parents are just stupid, and are not gun-toting criminals

I believe this little boy was just acting as a child, and knowing how 'legal' gun ownership engenders an immense sense of responsibility in people, I will not be surprised to find the little boy's parents are some sort of 'marginal characters' (ie: criminals) in some way shape or form. Responsible parents just DON"T leave their guns out for kids to find and play with ! I'll be interested to read any follow-up on this story....

Not always true. About three or four years ago a 12 year-old boy accidentally killed his friend while they were playing with his father's gun, which dad had left on top the dresser. The dad? An FBI agent who apparently never taught his son about guns.

Now that Miriam is able to get around and get into things, we keep our guns put away where she can't get to them. We'll teach the girls about guns when they're old enough to understand.
