Another fine example of law enforcement corruption in OK.
A Sallisaw, OK cop stole 178 cattle from a rancher and sold them for over $72,000. When the rancher filed a missing cattle report the cop squashed the report. The cop accidently shot himself with a .22 and blamed the cattle owner who was arrested. This kind of stuff only happens in OK.
Cattle rustling is a big deal in OK. This cop was lucky he was not killed. In 1979 a Comanche county rancher killed four cattle rustlers one night. The DA refused to prosecute the rancher.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said on Tuesday that a Sallisaw police officer accused of stealing 178 cows accidentally shot himself and blamed the cattle owner.
OSBI spokeswoman Jessica Brown said in a news release Tuesday that 35-year-old Wendall Hughes was shot in the chest about 1 p.m. Monday while driving on U.S. 64 in Sallisaw. She said Hughes told police he was shot by Mark Sweeney, and Sweeney was arrested.

Sweeney said he tried to file a theft report for the missing cattle, but Hughes told him not to file the report and even told investigators to cancel it.
Officials said Hughes was fired from the force Tuesday, as well.
