I overlooked this in the poll results . . . what percentage of Democrats in Mississippi think that interracial marriages should be illegal? Seems like that ought to be an interesting and valuable question to ask. As a matter of fact, the question probably WAS asked, and the data analyzed later. Why wasn't information released on the percentage of Democrats who think interracial marriage should be illegal? Draw your own conclusions about why the selective promulgation of the information about Republicans -- I have. It didn't take me too long either. Kinda a no-brainer.

FYI, it was the Dems who created Jim Crow laws, forced separate seating on buses, created white only counters and blocked equal rights amendment. Today, they hook minorities like drug users hook their victims on drugs. Let's force them to rely on government programs. Every stat from the war on poverty stat shows this fact. In the 50s the black family was doing just fine. Today it's a disaster and they are coming after everyone else. Power over people is addictive.

FYI, I will also restate that for a fact, more racism exist in the north than the south. I have unique knowledge of DC racisim that was flat out blatant. We are talking to the point where thousands of dollars were on the line and given up in the name of race. Down south, never once have I come across the very same situation. Go figure.

The funny part of this whole thing is it's based on a bigotry against people from Mississippi.

Cool

I don't really believe those numbers. I'm inclined to think the poll was rigged to make Republicans look like a bunch of redneck bigots.

Laws against racial intermarriage used to be fairly common. Even states like Maine, Michigan, and Pennsylvania barred marriage between blacks and whites. Many states even barred marriage between whites and asians, but those were mainly out west. In the South, only Georgia, Virginia and South Carolina barred marriage between whites and "non-whites." Missouri barred marriages of whites with blacks and asians.

I don't know why they had this thing against asians. We make really good wives.

I just don't believe that 46% of the Republicans in Mississippi believe it should be illegal. On the other hand, I can believe that a lot of people, even many people here, would not be happy about their daughter marrying someone of another race. But that's a different matter.

It should be noted that, based on some news reports I've read, the most dangerous husbands, at least as far as their daughters are concerned, seem to be those of Muslim persuasion, even though they're white.

Exactly,
What gets me is that we are at the 150th anniversary of the start of the civil war, and the Republicans are still trying to free the slaves from the democrats.
