Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Smile Country Music Awards Lift CBS in Ratings

"The Academy of Country Music Awards led Sunday night in the ratings for CBS, as an average of 13 million viewers tuned in to the award show broadcast from 8 to 11 p.m., according to Nielsen’s estimates."

http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/20...20music&st=cse

'Why must there be an award show just for [country music]? Aren't those folks just self-segregating? You'd think that they would show that they could compete by being in the generic [Grammy awards]. Nothing is going to change if they don't want to be part of the mainstream.

Can't we all get along?'

Country performers do show up in the Grammys. Lady Antebellum won big this year and Taylor Swift last year.

Country does exist more or less by itself though. Beyonce won big in the Grammys last year, six awards to Taylor Swifts four, but I have no idea what Beyonce sounds like or what she sings, whereas we have all of Taylor Swifts' albums.

Im surprised the 700k Obama gave them to promote his healthcare bill didn't raise their ratings even more.

I'm not complaining. Work on tuning your sarcasm filter.

Now, did you ever hear of any of the worthies on this forum getting their shorts in a knot about specialized awards programs? Remember them saying that such was just re-segregation, racist and probably bad for the grass?

So here we have a similar situation. As your teachers used to say: 'Contrast and discuss.'

Its because they are a bunch of racists. They need to fall in line with the BET awards.

Well, Kent you know how Beau is! He likes to bait and switch to make others look like they are the racist when he is the King of race baiting.

That's one explanation.

Maybe neither awards show is racist, huh?

From what I remember Charlie Pride did pretty well in country music... and Beau, I did well in Blues (which used to be all black music) until the blacks when to Crap I mean Rap..

I never knew music had a race preference.

Rev. What about Darius Rucker?
We can take it in the other direction with Eminem or Living Color. Its not the industry, its the taste of the individual.
