A Detroit woman was simply trying to do what she thought was the right thing for the health of her daughter by taking her off psychotropic drugs, which had adverse effects on her. By doing so, child protective services stepped in and went with warrant in hand to take her daughter away from her resulting in a standoff with police. The woman is out of jail awaiting a hearing but her daughter is still in protective custody.
This is unreal - the woman, as her mother, as her guardian, took action to make her daughter well and this is how it ends.
Could the real reason for taking the daughter away be more of money issue? States get incentives for placing children in foster care and adopting out children - money they can do anything they like with.
An interesting perspective on the mess of "legally abducting children":

Are we a free nation any more? Or is everyone just way over-medicated?
