Default Terrorists Kill 56 in Tikrit, Iraq

To my knowledge this has not yet made the US news. There have been numerous terrorist acts in Iraq that have not made the US news.

Quote:
BAGHDAD: Wearing military uniforms over explosives belts, gunmen held a local Iraqi government center hostage Tuesday in a grisly siege that ended with the deaths of at least 56 people, including three councilmen who were executed with gunshots to the head.

The five-hour standoff in Tikrit, former dictator Saddam Hussein’s home town, ended only when the attackers blew themselves up in one of the bloodiest days in Iraqi this year.

So is it safe to say that the Iraqis are not taking responsibility for their own security yet ? It's still a 'work in progress' ? The slaughter of innocents is always concerning, and I wonder why mass-media is not covering these events ? Could they reflect on Obama's Iraqi policy ? (What is Obama's Iraqi policy ?)

So what? I laugh at falcon's belief Iraq should be as safe as ???? Dang, having a hard time coming up with a major US city without murders. Is there one out there?

Bottom line, Iraq is doing a damn good job with what they have been given and how young their government is.

Show me where there have been 56 murders in one day in a US city. Oh, i know: OK City and Tim McVeigh in 1995.

Oh, I don't know. I seem to remember a certain congressman being shot in the head, surviving and right now still recovering in the hospital. I also seem to remember there has recently been a summit regarding police safety with all the rash of cop killers out there.

How long have we been established with a government that has a peaceful translation of power (providing Dems win)? Did Iraq just go through a recent election? Very young country now wouldn't you say?

Interesting concept....plus, we are not as full of wackos itchin' to don a bomb vest and go to the mall (or wherever)....if we did, we might enjoy the same statistical murder rate as Tikrit. All the same, I wonder how the every day, day in, day out crime rates are in Baghdad, Tikrit, etc. as compared with NY, Chicago, Philly or L.A. ? I don't think the muslims tolerate the "Latin Kings", "Bloods", "Crips" or other criminal gangs like we do....

i'D still like to see the crime statistics for these cities...if there are any.
Reason being, is if TIKRIT only realizes 56 murders, their rate may pale in comparison to Washington DC, Camden NJ,
New York City, etc....

They tolerate the largest terro group in the world, and many smaller one like Hamas.
