That's easy--pure and unbridled selfish, self-centered greed. As long as they will provide certain special interest groups what they want, those same groups could care less what the rest of us have to suffer through.
It's like those greedy CEO's we hear about...except those "greedy" CEO's actually perform a service, get fired if they don't perform, go to jail if they break laws (like not paying taxes), not to mention provide the country with real jobs.
Yet, somehow, these CEO's are supposed to be evil, while the dems are all fine and good as long as it's not "my" door they are knocking on to take my weapons, or eliminate my hunting season, etc.
