Default Propane mafia (whining rant)

Ok, so yesterday I get out of the shower, and look outside ,and see this beady eyed, little man, pumping propane into my tank, funny cause I never ordered any, and I had just received an order about a month ago, for 200 gallons, which lasts me a few months, at 4.30$ a gallon (yeah thats 860clams!!!!) so I opened the window and say "hey i dont mean to be rude but WTF ARE YOU DOING CHIEF??????" He says my tank is on his route, so he thought hed "top me off": So said "oh so you thought youd just take it upon yourself to pump 5 dollar bills in my tank huh"? I said how much did you put in? he said about 250 gallons!!!! I said what!!!!!?????? thats like a grand , I just got all I need for the rest of the winter! he said I was on "autofill" Now mind you, im in a towel and my Bday suit, so a beatn was outa the question, so I told him get that hose outta my tank and scram! So I got dressed and he left, but not without leaving me a bill for 327 gallons!!!! WTF happened to 250???? Now get this, the price per gal on the bill was 5.89$/gal!!!!!!!!! holy crap! so there I am with a bill in my hand for 1800$ for a product I dont need ,and didnt ask for so I called up the company (suburban propane) and chewed the CS reps azz off, I said you have 2 choices, ill take the un ordered propane you just forced on me, at no more than 2.50 a gallon, or Ill use the propane I already had in the tank, and you can then come get your 500 gallon tank, with exactly 327 gallons in it, off my !!!!N property, The manager called me back and said, call us when you want us to pick it up, cause I aint gettin a discount. Fine, I said! Ha! I cant wait to see these jackasses try to lift that giant 3/4 full tank, off my retaining wall and onto a flatbed HAHAHA , did I mention, I live on the steepest hill in orange county NY???

Can you belive the nerve of these crooks? did they think I was gonna pay that?????

You should check with your neighbors...betcha they got the same deal. Reminds me, when I was coming off of work and caught National Fuel Gas swapping out my meter. When I enquired what the problem was, the Foreman stated that it was a faulty meter as they were not recieving accurate readings anymore. I mentioned that it may have to do with the fact that I put in a woodburner. Man was that dude pissed. I just smiled and continued into the house and said, have a great weekend.

if your laws are like Fl. if you not on autofill... Make sure you did not sine up for it. the gas if free.

also if like fl. point out out to them that they can not by law move a tank with more than 5% in it. And if they do you will contact the fire martal and D.O.T. to report it.

that about a 15000% fine here..

I dont consider this a whining rant. I'f you are on autofil (or whatever) and you actively signed up for it I'd say they picked a good time for the fill. If you are not, I'd make it my purpose in life for the next week or so to put the screws to them

Theve been my supplier for 5 years, they do this crap every year, and I call em and tell em to not deliver unless I call and order it, and they always say "we dont have any record of that"

Difference is it wasnt 5.89/gal before

They do this cause they wanna get me for as many rip off gallons as they can before the discounted summer "prepay" price goes in effect.

This company is just plain crooked see for yourself

I own my tank. My biggest argument comes when I shop for price. They want the receipt for my tank purchase. I refer to my deed and ask them to prove I don't own it. In the long run, I win and buy from who I want and at what price.

Yip, I also own my tank and am NOT on auto fill. That way I can call and shop around for the cheapest propane and have it delivered when I want it delivered.

It sounds like you need to go to the office and put it in writing that you are NOT on auto fill, and leave with a signed copy stating such. Bet that would be the last time they auto fill your tank.

The energy industry is on the fast tack to being taken over by the government. I cut the legs of the propane companies by installing a very high efficiency wood boiler with a domestic hot water coil in it. I buy maybe 250 gallons a year and really don't have to do that. Cost 6000 almost 10 years ago, you do the math. Not an outside boiler and setting one up right takes some doing. Right being the operative word. Anyone can set one up, but setting it up so you don't waste a ton of energy getting it extracted is another story.

Get a clue, electric heat was cheaper at less than 2.50 a gallon. Don't know what you electric costs are but around here when propane passed 1.38 a gal electric was cheaper. Put in some electric heat/hot water and tell them to pound sand.

i believe they can come and extract the gas back. i told em onetime when my grandpa was gone, "i guess go on and fill er up"..i can remember pappy rubbin his head lol.
my wife can call the cable company, and when she gets off the phone, the bill cost more..i can call, get the bill reduced and get more channels.
so i think attitude has alot to do with it.
there is a way to lock the intake? stick a lock on it. when ya need gas, take the lock off.
I would call the gm, cause what he told ya about picking it up, isnt good customer relations. I'd also call the cops and file a report...this is a certain kind of theft. Its unlawful to force someone into buying things they dont want.
I dont know what you do for a living, but i would show up at his office and do his entire sprinkler system, give him a $1000 bill, tell him he is on auto repair. have a nice day.
