Feds Raid Illegal Pain Killer Clinics

Hundreds of federal, state and local officers raided illegal Florida pain clinics. Five doctors were among those arrested.

WESTON, Fla. – U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents and local police swept across South Florida on Wednesday making arrests as part of a lengthy undercover operation into illegal pill mills that dispense huge amounts of powerful [COLOR=#366388 !important][COLOR=#366388 !important]prescription [COLOR=#366388 !important]drugs[/color][/color][/color] across the nation.

Federal law enforcement officials said the yearlong probe resulted in initial arrests of 20 people, including at least five doctors, in an operation in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties that involved about 400 law enforcement officers. Six people were charged in a federal indictment and others face state charges, including the physician son of Broward County's medical examiner.
Mark R. Trouville, chief of the Miami DEA field office, said more arrests are coming, noting that undercover agents made at least 340 purchases of oxycodone and other painkillers at 40 clinics over the past year.

Speaking at a news conference directly to doctors and clinic owners, Trouville said: "We have probably bought dope from you — and we're coming to see you soon."

Dang, where should I go next for my supply?

Frankly, who really cares? What bothers me about this is that when/if i need pain killers, like now, I'm seriously worried about the scrutiny, I may have to go thru to get them. My last surgery was worst than the one the year before and it's taken a lot longer to recover. just this week, I think I have finally turned the corner and I'm just about ready to get out there and tear my body up again. However in the long run, there is no reason in this day and age, I should be forced to be side tracked by pain.

FM brought up a good point. Many doctors are deathly afraid of prescribing pain killers, ever for terminal cancer patients. All it takes in one rouge DEA agent to trash a good doctors career and send him/her off to jail.

Problem is that the damned DEA has absolutely no sense when it comes to prescription pain killers. They routinely refer to pain killers as "dope". Well they are not dope and the feds need to lay off doctors who prescribe pain killers for patients who are in pain.
