Frankly, I don't know what that brainless hemorrhoid occupying the Oval Orifice is waiting for !! you exterminate rats, and give them no quarter....this is no different.
I agree that the U.S. Navy, and other world forces, need to be more aggressive in dealing with piracy in the region. It offends me a bit that there were so many pirates "taken into custody." Seems to me that the highest and best use of Somali pirates is as shark food.
That being said, what on Earth were these people doing in that area, armed only with a boatload of Bibles? How much risk do we want to put our soldiers in to save people from consequences of their own stupidity? Those folks had to know the possible outcome of sailing through that area...

The policy of being reactive to individual incidents is unproductive.
If the U.S. Navy is to be tasked with the protection/salvation/recovery of victims of piracy, then they should go to the root of the problem. If these pirates are "SOMALI", seems to me that we already know where to take this fight.... And who says that the taking of prisoners is part and parcel of the enforcement efforts ? I don't see what's wrong with 'bait boats' armed with miniguns, rockets, etc, blowing up pirate vessels on the open seas...(there's IP's shark food...which I support wholeheartedly)
I don't see why we hesitate to blow any known pirate vessels or meeting places off the map.

I have to agree. It's like those hikers that got caught in Iraq, or mountain climbers that get stuck, etc. There is a price to be paid for stupidity. For proof, just look at our country now after the last Presidential election.

I think a few well armed commandos on innocent looking yachts would be a great start. About the time these pirates get close, open up and let the fun begin. I bet you would have no shortage of volunteers from our military.

I like the "Bait Boat" idea! Could probably turn it into a reality show and recoup the costs, even make money--I'd take that over "Bait Car" or "Operation Repo" any day!

I agree that there will always be morons....just look a how President Baboon got elected and you know the world is rife with morons. And it was just a matter of time before some schmucks got caught up in the butchery and were victimized so that's no surprise either.
What is surprising, is that governments traditionally hunted down pirates and either killed them or brought them to justice. This is no longer happening, and an atmosphere of general barbarity and lawlessness on the open seas has been fostered as a result.
Hunt these animals down and kill them. If these activities are supporting local economies, then everyone there is complicit and there really is no such thing as 'collateral damage'...kill all pirates, sink their ships, block their ports...the open sea is dangerous enough that the extra peril of human depredation should be eliminated, even for the morons too stupid to secure themselves against it.
