Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default A Couple of Thoughts on the U.S. Military...

First, what if the U.S. military decided to unionize? They are in the public service sector, right? They are government workers who volunteer for this job. Why not let them unionize? Makes as much sense to me as any other public service job being able to unionize.

Second, I was just thinking earlier today, when I saw a story about the first woman ever to pitch batting practice for a Major League baseball team. Why don't we see women playing in MLB, NFL, NHL, etc.?

I think there's a simple reason--money controls them, not politics. To make the most money, they need the best atheletes performing. Sure, there are women behind the scenes, but not out on the "battlefield". Reckon why we put our best on the field when it comes to games and entertainment, but when it comes to our national defense???? (for those of you that obviously have a problem understanding my posts, that is a rhetorical question)

Just a couple of random thoughts...

F.D.R. himself was against public unions. Even called them unconstitutional. As he said, unions are important to bargain with the CEO/Business owners for a fair share of the profit the workers help bring. And since Public jobs do not create profit, all a public union does is to take from the Tax payer. There is no bargaining.

There has never been any serious attempt to unionize the US military. However, many civilians who work for the US military are unionized. In 2008, 28 percent of the federal work force was unionized.

To name a few: The American Federation of Government Employees, The National Federation of Federal Employees, The National Treasury Employees Union.

But what if there was? If it's the best thing for the workers and the people they serve (as some would have us believe), why not unionize the military?

What sense does it make for ANY person working in the public service sector being payed by tax money to be in a union? If it makes sense for them, it makes sense for the military--right?
