Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Yup. And I will repeat what I said back then, "If they do not want to do the job they were voted in office to do, they need to step down."

It is just as wrong now, as it was then,

I was not a fan of the redistricting that was forced on us, but fleeing wasn't really the proper action.

if I remember correctly, the one handed down by the judge or the constitutional one done by the legislative branch of government?

This was the one when Delay and Perry spent millions redistricting after we had just gone through the process. Districts did not have to be redrawn for a few more sessions. It was just a political move by Delay to get more power by targeting some democrats and a few republicans districts. My county got redistricted into the congressional district in Amarillo, some 250+ miles away. Meanwhile, funds for basic state operations were not handled appropriately. Some funding for public education were not released until a few months after school had started. Some textbooks were not made available until after Christmas.

Who redrew the districts to begin with? Wasn't it done by a judge?

If this stunt works there's going to be alot of extremely irate people in Wisconsin. I just can't understand how they can just not show up? We should get an option to replace them. Typical though that the media is only showing the "workers" losing so much, and not the majority of Wisconsinites that are for them contributing alittle.

Texas has always traditionally done redistricting after the national census. 2001, 1991, 1981, etc. The Texas legislature has very seldom agreed on a redistricting plan. When they don't, state law submits the task to a three judge panel. That panel makes a recommendation. This happened in 2001. The Republicans requested this. The judges redrew the lines, and the map looked like it would result in Texas having 17 Democrat and 15 Republican congressmen. But neither party liked the plan, so they didn't pass the proposed new districts. When the legislature does not reach agreement and pass a new redistricting plan, it goes to the Legislative Redistricting Board. Since that was the case here, the LRB handled redistricting.
