Default Wisconsin Budget Repair Bill

Boy the union whiners are going crazy here in cheeseland! These government workers and teachers have been coddled for too long and now they are being asked to contribute 5.8% towards their retirement, and 12% towards healthcare. That is just crazy though why should they have to pay for anything like the rest of us? At least I'm not the only one that thinks that they are unreasonable. The funny part is that they all claim that they took less pay to get the entitlements, but they make more than most around here anyways.

As a teacher, I am against the teachers unions and the NEA. They are not out for the kids, they are out for themselves. I am glad that Texas has no teachers unions. We get paid a lot less than those teachers up north, but it at least keeps people who work for the kids, not for the unions.

Its these same unions/liberals who insist we raise the bottom to the middle while ignoring our brightest. You can add Bush to that list as well. He did more to ruin education than just about anyone.,

Power to the people!

And -- just in case it isn't clear -- "the People" ain't the unions!

The unions have become a kind of maffia that bullies and threatens and coerces payment of "protection money" which, if not paid, they then crap on you. I hope Wisconsin is able to succeed in getting these unions to face reality. I will be watching. The "people" are those who have to pay the excessive, coddled compensation to these union folks. I imagine the people in Wisconsin are more than a little unhappy with having to float the boat of these union members.

The unions need to be informed that the alternative is that the state gives in on the pension/medical contribution issue, but, half of them are fired and the other half get to teach classes of 40 instead of classes of 20.... Union members seem to me to be a batch of half witted clowns who enjoy shooting themselves in the foot...

I was driving through town last night and there was a bunch of the cry babies picketing with signs stop the attack on workers rights. I just get super mad when these babies have no clue what the rest of us have to do to pay for there "workers rights." Unions used to be necessary. They would stick up for the little guy. Now it's all about the lazy man (or woman) with seniority. Typical liberal bs.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the state’s median individual income for 2009 was $39,718, meanwhile the median wage for state employees was $45,599 according to an analysis of data provided by the Department of Administration.
When benefits are included, the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance reports the average state employee total compensation in 2008 was valued at $71,000; still only around half of what some labor leaders make in salary alone.

He was terrible for education when he was governor, and showed no improvement when he was president. NCLB is about as bad as it gets.

Funny, I hear this but not the why. Granted, Edward Kennedy wrote the bill of NCLB and left out the voucher system unless in extreme circumstances, what really was so bad about a bill that doubled the federal spending other than it doubled the federal spending?

There is something wrong when an employee can call in sick for the day, and then be seen on national T.V. protesting......and still get to keep their job.

Jesse, I don't see how the people of Wisconsin who pay the state workers salaries don't get incensed when the see the lazy greedy sobs cry and whine. I hope the rest of the state feels the same way you do. I don't see how they don't.

A budget repair bill should not have language dealing with nothing about budgetary items. At least not without talking to the parties involved first.

Most unions have already gone most of the way to making the "concessions" being forced upon them. I am a union employee for my local school district. This bill and the way Governor Walker has spoken makes it sound like I'm lazy. Like I don't work for less overall than I could in the private industry. I do my best to get my job done, just as anyone should in the private industry.

I'm an IT person who works for less because I love to help people and get to make a difference for my community. I've been working in the same District for almost 11 years now.

The Union that represents me is the only reason why I am in the public sector. I would have gone to a corporation long ago because the wages used to be very low for the job I had. It was a stepping stone to the private industry. Now it's at least a liveable wage with decent benefits. Not insanely good benefits by any means.

My Mother had better benefits through her smaller accounting agency than I do now.

For those of you who live in Wisconsin, what are the draws that keep/bring people into the state? There are not many things to keep people here now outside of the public educational system. The same system that will begin to erode rapidly.

The teachers who I work with are by far and overall very caring about the students they teach. Sure, there are some bad teachers, but look around your workplace. How many slackers do you have to work with?

Don't give me that BS that all private company employees are hardworking. We all know that isn't true either.
