Have you not learned? You can't fence wild hogs or Mexicans in or out. They will figure out a way to climb over, dig under or tear a hole in it. A fence on the border in Texas, or just about anywhere else, will be a big waste of tax $$$$$$. Beside, who would do all the work on construction sights. Jim
The border fence has already been dead for months. Obama canceled it. Kathleen baby put the nail in that a long time ago.

Is anyone out there grapped by the fact that about 40 percent of the current federal budget is red ink? Those Republicans in the house ran on a platform of cutting $100 billion from the current budget. Now they are reneging on their promise.
The federal budget deficit for this fiscal year is $1,500 billion dollars. Surely they could cut $100 from that figure if they really tried.
The Democrats in the US congress will not tell you that "entitlements" will have to be cut in order to bring the federal budget into balance. By the same token the Republicans will not tell you that taxes will have to be raised.
Neither party has the guts it takes to seriously cut the federal deficit: Anyone who tells you otherwise is deranged, a partisan political hack or is running on meth.
I would agree that 100B is just unexceptable. We're in deep deep trouble here. I doubt that the government is telling us the true dire sitituation we are truly in, to quell a possible uprising.
BS falcon, 40% isn't red ink. 66% is entitlements. So how can 40% be red ink. Also remember you don't want to touch the entitlement stuff.

Where did i say not to touch entitlements? You become totally irrational when confronted with the fact that your beloved party is not serious about reducing the deficit. FM, you need to take a downer.
It's simple math, FM: Take the amount of the deficit, 1.5 trillion, and divide by the amount of the budget, 3.7 trillion. You come up with a red ink ratio of about 40 percent. It is now estimated that the deficit this year will be $1.65 trillion. That brings the deficit to about 44 percent of the total budget.
My bad on the red ink. However, how come you lack the bullocks when asked to step up to the plate? I propose a solid solution on ending the entitlments and you always attack it with "Liberal". The funny thing is how clear its an attack on me because as I already pointed out, DLG's plan was the biggest wealth transfer on the table but your bias blinded you to that fact. Then on the other thread regarding Rand Paul's proposed 500 Billion in cuts this year, you can't comment on what he has on the table and choose to attack him for hiring someone with experience with how capital hill works. Furthermore, still waiting on your explaination on why his choice was a bad one.
So step up to the plate the falcon. Quit acting like an independent by following the lunch crowd.

I'm trying to figure out what our illustrious el Presidente' means when he says his budget proposal will "cut $1 Trillion from the deficit over the next ten years." He wants people to hear that and think "Good. We currently owe $13.5 Trillion. At the end of ten years, we'll only owe $12.5 Trillion. That's a step in the right direction."
But, what I think he means is "We currently owe 13.5 Trillion. My budget projections showed deficits of $1 Trillion per year for the next 10 years, so our total debt would have been $23.5 Trillion. But, under my new proposal, we'll cut the deficit by $1 Trillion so, at the end of 10 years, the national debt will only be $22.5 Trillion."
And, yet, the dolts who vote for him will consider him to be austere rather than disingenuous...

That's most of it. But we need to be realistic here.
There is that awful caveat: "The above projections are based on a an ever improving economic forecast. In the event that the economy continues to perform poorly, the national debt at the end of ten years could be easily exceed $25 trillion."
