Default Pirates at it Again...

They've nabbed $200 Million of U.S. oil. Why are these "people" allowed to live? How the hell are they even able to board a supertanker? Wouldn't the crew have to drop one of those rope ladders down to them? Why not, instead of a ladder, send down a hail of lead from a couple M60's? As far as I'm concerned, these aren't even humans. Shoot the damned rats before they board and be done with them. They'll quit once enough of them fulfill their highest and best use as shark food.

LONDON/ATHENS — Suspected Somali pirates captured a U.S.-bound tanker carrying around $200 million worth of crude oil in the Indian Ocean on Wednesday in one of the biggest hijackings in the area so far.

The hijacking marks a significant shift in piracy and the crisis could "strangle" vital shipping lanes, the association of supertanker owners warned.

The Irene SL, the length of three soccer pitches and with 25 crew members on board, was carrying about 2 million barrels of oil, or nearly one fifth of daily U.S. crude imports.

For the life of me i cannot understand why any country with a military capability allows their ships to be hijacked by the human trash of a third world craphole like Somalia.

I don’t get it either, it’s hard to board a ship with bullets flying at ya!

a few months ago, there was a 'joke' circulating the 'net whereby people could pay to be passengers aboard freighters and tankers...get to 'see and feel' what it's like to 'repel boarders' and 'fight pirates'....the 'thrill of the fight'.... It was funny then, but something's gotta be done about allowing arms on these cargo ships without reclassifying them as military ships (which I believe is the main impediment to including heavy arms aboard civilian ships)

Cool

Too many "men" running our country are afraid of guns and wet their panties at the thought of violence. It's why we can't win a stupid war. Our armed forces are suppposed to go out there and be nice to our enemies.

I know Jesus is supposed to have said "Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth," but I'm inclined to thnk he was misquoted. In any case, if you're going to be meek, history tends to show you're going to lose big.

They are good at climbing up a rope & grappling hook?
But from what i read in the past- the ship owners are reluctant to arm the ordinary seaman & crews( giving a few reasons)

"In London, Mr. Linington said the shipping companies fear that weaponizing commercial ships would "create more problems than it would solve" and that the companies could become embroiled in an "arms race" with the pirates.

It also could draw shippers into the web of complex legal issues, as the incident Sunday illustrated, in terms of what to do with captured pirates and how to navigate firearms regulations that differ from port to port.

Another concern is the danger of firing on the wrong target."
----------------------------------------------
And they dont want to spend any more moneys on security persons.( that leaves them unarmed)

But they did say they are glad for the navel forces..

"We have seen a marked reluctance among ship owners in the current economic climate to spend any extra money, be it on security guards or extra crew, which is why they have been very happy to see all the naval forces deployed," Mr. Linington said.

"The U.N. and the international community have to find a way to solve the problem," he said. "The youth in Somalia want to become pirates. They see the opportunity for a good life and to drive nice cars. Its a way out of poverty."

Nahh dont worry about it uncle sammy will pick up the tab.
( i think hillery & bobo( the community organizer) & UN have been handing out more(us) moneys in somalia to(and other parts of africa)-

Just think how affective a good sniper with a 300 win, in the crows nest would be. Time to change some rules and let these guys arm themselves.

There's only one thing that would lead to a stable Somalia, and it's an option that won't ever be used, as it would render the entire region uninhabitable for a good number of decades. The next best solution is to arm the crews with shoot to kill operational orders. Simple and effective. The highest and best use of pirates is as fish food. They are unworthy of being considered human...
