Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default So much for the administration's spending freeze...

http://www.cnn.com/2011/POLITICS/02/...ion=cnn_latest

Quote:
The Obama administration is proposing to spend $53 billion over the next six years to help promote the construction of a national high-speed, intercity passenger rail network, Vice President Joe Biden announced Tuesday. The proposal represents a significant expansion of the $10.5 billion already spent on high-speed rail expansion since Obama entered office, including $8 billion in the 2009 economic stimulus package.

Well the Village Idiot is earning his name every single day. This would be part of his 'green initiative' to get people using trains instead of cars...and it would introduce a whole 'nuther layer of government bureaucracy on the passenger rail industry I would imagine...but first and foremost, it would be to say he's behind the hiring of x-number of workers to make this thing exist. Spending MORE money we don't have, on a project we don't need.

I'm a little curious. Apparently, according to the article, we have ALREADY spent $10.5 Billion on "high speed rail." Is there even an inch of track laid? Do we own a single "bullet train"? Where did those billions go?

38 mph is high speed? Why in the world should we waste all that money for trains when air travel is faster, cheaper and privately owned?

Its only 53 billion. lol.

Wonder how much 53 billion will really do? And as such, why spend it on something that is dead in America. We all know how cost effective AMTRAK has been. I guess we have got to keep in mind how Biden loves his choo choo trains.
