The article doesn't mention it, but a Michigan statute bars relatives from filing a wrongful death suit also.

My only question would be why didn't the people call 911 first? After all they did let him in the house by opening the door, I don't question the or dispute the shooting I think the homeowners was well within his rights, I just think I would have called the police first sounds like they could have.
Killing some sound easy, until you do it.

The police around here are not slackards. If you call 911, the police will definitely arrive. But under the circumstances described, one could sustain a serious beating while waiting for them to arrive.

The lesson here is don't get drunk and push your way into someone else's home and start beating on them. Your mother may think you're a real sweet kid who wouldn't hurt a ****roach, but sweet kids like that don't get drunk and start beating on people.
