Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default This is going to bite Obama in the butt.

Let’s put just a few, and I mean a few, things in perspective. Jan. 1, a whole lot of baby boomers went on retirement, so they have been removed from the list. Also, a lot of 99s are dropped. Besides, Jan. has not been very good for job growth 36 k, yet they want to twist the numbers to look good. The math does not add up and is obvious for even a 3rd grader.

Little more food for thought.

Cool

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that one is no longer considered as unemployed after a certain period of time. You are assumed to have left the work force and are, hence, not unemployed any longer.

Given this calculation, unemployment figures would continue to decline even though a substantial percentage of people who want to work are not working.

Yep. They are the 99ers. The group I am talking about. Add that to the Boomers who just lef the work force on Jan. 1st. and you get numbers like what Obama is touting here.

Obama, the democrats and the MSM can distort and hide the numbers all they want. But November 2012 is coming and the voters will be not be hoping for change...they will be voting for it!

I think this is highly on point. There is a small portion of the population that is "in play" in any given presidential election. Republican voters like me -- we are going to vote for the Republican candidate (or if like me -- vote straight party Republican ticket). Democrat voters like my sisters in Illinois -- they are going to vote for the Democrat candidate (they probably vote straight party Democrat ticket, but maybe not). The elections turn not on these bases but on the independent voters that move back and forth, depending on issues and depending on personalities.

Obama was elected because he persauded a lot of these independent voters to vote for him. My guess is that precious few of those independents are going to vote for Obama in 2012, unless, that is, the Republicans roll-out some really pathetic and unelectable candidate. Will that happen? I don't have a crystal ball, I can't tell.

To the point . . . let the Obama administration throw out the numbers they want. The Democrat base and the mainstream media will accept them without blinking an eye. The independents? They are going to see too many of their friends out of work to buy those numbers.

2012 is a light year away, with too many stumbleing blocks along the way. Hope and Change has 1 Billion bucks already in his war chest, in anticipation of the fight. It would not surprise me in the least if he has to ward off a challenger in a Primary, someone who is able to rally the Democrat Party once again. Too much is at stake for these people to put all their chips again, on an incompetant, whose rating is now at -18 and dropping fast. There is one, who can alter their currrent state of bad fortune, and put them again in firm control.
