It appears these kids get special treatment 6 minutes a day and 40 minutes a month. I can't see where that could help much, but if it works, what is the problem?
Oh, I see....some folks aren't worried about the kids improving their education, especially if it can be construed to appear racist. That's what matters--appearances--the heck with the kids.
My suggestion for at least some of them, would be busting their tails. Strong, healthy kids failing gym class simply because they refuse to participate? Sounds like something a good old-fashioned paddling would cure. That always helped cure our lack of motivation and lack of respect.

I am against it. There are some other far reaching things that come to mind which could play into something like this. How would it be perceived if the segregation was called for by the whites to improve their grades. (removing bad students and provide better roll models)

Race is not exclusive to social issues. Same issues that affect one race also affects the others. The black students in this school are apparently hurting from social norms in there society, which is not exclusive to their race. Might be more prominent, but not exclusives. I think they would be better served if the school separated by ability or some other measure that would address this social stump, instead of making it exclusive to one race. I am sure that the black students are not the only race that could benefit from extra help.

Well, in Wake County, NC. They finally got a conservative school board and they voted to put an end to bussing. Yes, many years ago, the courts ruled and ended bussing for segragation needed to end. So the lobs renamed it and called it bussing for diversity of income levels. What a nightmare. I'm a licensed realtor but only do it for personal advancement not for a job. I honest can say, I would have discouraged any new family from locating in Wake County that had kids unless they would be sending their kids to private school. The county's policy was crazy. You could have 4 kids in high school and all going to 4 different schools. In fact, each spring they could have changed it on you.
The good news is that the conservatives took over and ended bussing. It hasn't been easy. The national NAALCP has come here regularly to fight the new policy. They have called it racist. We've had Sharpton down here with his bullhorn. So far, I think the board is holding firm and they should. The chairman has rightly pointed out, the liberal policy of bussing was nothing more than hiding troubled kids behind achieving ones. He has said, the first step is going to neighborhood schools, the second is to identify the under achievers and go after them with more resources. And the left calls that racism.

I don't beleive nothing can help our schools until they get a handle on discipline..
I'm not a racist..but our black population is where we are the lowest in all areas...
--many more discipline referrals
--much farther behind in academics..
a good ole fashioned paddling would heal many of our disciplinary children..that's a fact..I wish they would look at that data..how it worked in the good ole days.

Agreed but it goes much farther than that. Discipline must also be administered in the home. Fathers must return to acting like fathers and husbands instead of just being a "baby daddy". Parents must want to better themselves and in return better the kids.
In other words... parents need to start giving a crap about what their kids do, say, how they act, etc... again.

the funny thing is .... this country was segregated, then political correctness kicked in and we were all thrown together and over the past 3 decades? all the blacks pretty much live in the same area, the whites, the latino's, the chinese and ***anese and hmong's ..... segregation is what we're now seeing
