US Rep. Dennis Kucinich has sued a congressional cafeteria for $150,000. Ole Dennis damaged a tooth when he bit down on an olive pit in his sandwich.
Quote:
The civil suit filed earlier this month in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia said the wrap "contained dangerous substances, namely an olive pit," that a consumer would not reasonably expect to find in the product served. The suit said that Kucinich suffered "serious and permanent" dental and oral injuries requiring multiple surgical and dental procedures.
Kucinich's lawsuit said the Ohio Democrat bought the sandwich on or about April 17, 2008. He is seeking damages for "past and future medical and dental expenses, compensation for pain, suffering and loss of enjoyment and other damages."
The Cafeteria bares some responsibility. Medical costs should be covered, perhaps some pain suffering -- like a small claims amount.
However, this ridiculous ambulance chaser attitude typifies society today. I would like to think our leaders are above that. Can't say it is partisan, but the fact that trial lawyers have ginned up this lawsuit happiness in our country, and the trial lawyers vastly favor the dems, and Kusinich is a dem, doesn't look to good wither.
I can see Kusinich on a local Cincinnati tv commercial. "I was hurt, but Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe got me a CHECK!"
Ole Dennis....card carrying memeber of the Socialist Partry. Go figure. He gets better dental coverage then most Americans, and for free. If he wins his pain and suffering case, I would hope that he invests in good clothes.....his cheap suits are causing me pain and suffering just to look at them. What a cheapskate.

$150, 000 for loss of enjoyment? Heck, my work is going to get a huge bill. I could be enjoying myself by being out fishing or hunting. I want my cash for my loss of enjoyment.
